Friday. August 14. 2026. The first Friday of school resuming for many in and around us. How happy everyone seems to be... teachers... students and parents as each school year provides an opportunity to 'begin anew'... and so we do... just like each and every day... living deeply into the power and promise of our baptism into the rule and reign of Christ Jesus in our hearts and lives... and this past Sunday we had a throng of students come receive a blessing and a prayer card for their backpack... and while that was taking place... I asked school teachers, principals and administrators present AND past along with coaches, bus drivers, and custodians as well as those who cook in the school cafeteria... as all God's children have a place in the choir of education and especially as Martin Luther was a college professor and our Lutheran faith was born in a university... So thanks be to God for this new time and new opportunity!
THIS SUNDAY IS THE LAST IN THE SERIES on the messages about Martin Luther's words from the1500's to our living in 2026! I appreciate the good feedback from many about how this way of preaching and teaching has been helpful... especially those who have been attending the Sunday 9:00 am ABC and the Wednesday 'repeats'... and again... this Sunday brings a conclusion with a title of "LEFTOVERS-- other things Luther said and did that impact our ling today!" PLEASE invite a friend or family member as I hope this will be the most helpful of the 5 presentations... Sunday at 10:00 am and if you want to get in on the conversation ahead of time... the ABC will gather in the Parlor at 9:00 AM
THE RUMMAGE SALE IS TODAY AND TOMORROW... 8:00 am to 12:00 noon... and I heard from the Servant Ministry committee that the response to the 'call for stuff' for re-sale to fund CLC's support of missionaries... and this is a GREAT thing as all congregations don't do this... but CLC has for many many years so whether you donated... sorted... sold or bought... thank you for your love of the Lord and the need for the 'good news of Jesus' to go out into the world...
TOMORROW @ 4:30 - 6:00 PM is... "Brats, Brews and Good News"... theology on tap... at the Wurst Haus... please see the flyer attached..
Church Council meets this Sunday at 1:30 pm. Please hold them in your prayers and that means "the LUNCH BUNCH" will meet after worship... a time and place TBD... but let’s try Brian’s BBQ…
This Sunday those at worship will get to meet Lindsey Ward... who is being added to our list of accompanists on the piano... and more on that soon...
Lastly... the weather is still hot... please stay in the shade... stay cool and stay hydrated... this is good stewardship of self and for the sake of our Christian community...
See you Sunday... and PS... I promised a meme from last Sunday's message... please feel free to share it with others as you invite them to sit with you...
The peace of Christ be yours! pg
