The Word for Sunday's Message: "Living in Peace" Ephesians 4:1-32

We live in a world of chaos and strife. Unfortunately, many, many families live this way; constantly at each other's throats. All too often we read of a son stealing his parent's finances; a daughter defrauding her parents.

God has a different plan. In the midst of a chaotic, violent world, our homes ought to be a shelter from the storms of life. Our churches ought to be a place of refuge. And they will be if our homes are functioning as God intended them to function.

In writing to the Ephesian church in the fourth chapter of the Ephesian letter, the Apostle Paul gives some very practical guidelines - rules, if you will - for living at peace.

Join us Sunday at 10:00 at 3940 Holly Hill Road in Lake Charles. We will be looking for you!

The Word for Sunday's Message: "God's Family Plan" Hebrews 10:19-25

This week we will begin a series of messages on God's plan for the family concluding on Father's Day.

The family as God established it is the foundation for society. It was established before any government, any school, or the church. This is why the devil is doing his best to destroy God's plan. If he disrupts the family, he disrupts all other institutions.

While I recognize it may not be politically or socially correct to say so, God's plan is for a male and a female to marry, become husband and wife for life, and have children.

Circumstances beyond our control may disrupt that plan. A tragic accident may take a mom or dad out of the home. An incurable disease may bring an early end to the life of mom or dad. And, God understands and will bring the family through.

Too often we are told that marriages can be ended "just because" and there is no harm to the children. Statistics from the US government state otherwise.

Just us Sunday as we beginning looking at the foundation for society that God planned. Morning worship is at 10:00am, 3940 Holly Hill Road, Lake Charles, LA

We will be looking for you.

Challenge from Pastor John's message: "Pentecost - The Cure for the Self Problem" Acts 1:4-8; 2"1-4

Self has been a problem since Lucifer fell. Isaiah record for us what Lucifer said that caused him to be cast out of heaven: "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. 14 ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." (Isaiah 14:1-14)

It was Lucifer's appeal to Eve - "You will be like God." It's been our problem in the family, in government, in the schools, in our churches since Adam and Eve fell.

And it's grown even worse in recent years. We are now obsessed with promoting self on social media. Selfies are posted constantly wanting approval from others.

The promotion of self-esteem has not created a more confident population. Anxiety, depression, and su***des are at all time highs. Since the advent of the cell phone, su***de between the ages of 10-24 have increased dramatically.

God has a remedy. It is the opposite of what the self-esteem movement teaches. It is the crucifixion of self. Read chapters 6,7, and 8 of Romans.

Pentecost is the answer. The purifying, cleansing fire of Pentecost. The surrender, the crucifixion of self and allow the Spirit to fill us with His power. To dethrone self, and allow Jesus to sit on the throne of our hearts.

The Word for Sunday's Message - "Pentecost - The Cure for Self" Acts 1:4-8; 2:1-4

Prior to Pentecost, the disciples were a cowardly bunch, meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid. Some of them were also a bit narcissistic. They got mom to ask Jesus to let them sit on His right and left hand.

Pentecost changed that. In their praying for ten days up to Pentecost, all the "me first" was laid aside. Scripture tells us that when Pentecost came, they "were all in one accord." They had one purpose.

Then, instead of cowering behind lock doors, the spilled out into the streets of Jerusalem preaching the gospel of Jesus, and 3,000 souls were saved.

What happened? Self was crucified, the "old man died" as the Apostle Paul states it, and they were endued with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Join us Sunday, 10:00 am, at 3940 Holly Hilly Road and let's see what God will do with a people who are in one accord.

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad." This is Pentecost Sunday. 1,993 years ago (it is believed) this is the day the Holy Spirit was poured out on the 120 in the Upper Room, and the Church was born.

There is still time to join us this morning at 3940 Holly Hill Road, Lake Charles, LA as we worship our great God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.

We will be looking for you!
