August Change for Change: Vinton Elementary School
Call to Worship: Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost, August 9, 2026
L: We come because we are thirsty and are dried out by all that does not satisfy apart from God.
P: We gather at the river to renew our spirit and quench our thirst with water from the living well.
L: We come because we are disillusioned and afraid. We want to be assured that we are on the right path.
P: We gather at the river to reclaim our birthright signified by our Baptism and our identity as
children of God.
L: We come because we feel powerless against powers and principalities, inequity and hate. We long for
crooked paths to be set straight.
P: We gather to partake in a movement that began with the prophets and culminated in Christ where
justice rolls like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream!
L: We come because we feel separated from God and each other.
P: We gather at the river to receive God’s assurance through the word and sacrament that we belong
to God and as Christ’s siblings, are beloved by God.
L: We come because we are troubled and distraught like the disciples who were afraid when the waves
swept over their boat in the storm.
P: We gather at the river to experience the peace that rested on Jesus and to hear in the bird songs
the father’s delight in the son.
L: We come to experience in holy communion God’s presence with us and the already and not yet of God’s
Kingdom.
P: We gather at the river to be freed by a God who makes safe passage for all and sets oppressors
on their heels.

Llamado a la adoración: Undécimo domingo después de Pentecostés, 9 de agosto de 2026
L: Venimos porque tenemos sed y nos sentimos resecos por todo aquello que no satisface fuera de Dios.
P: Nos reunimos junto al río para renovar nuestro espíritu y saciar nuestra sed con el agua del manantial de vida.
L: Venimos porque estamos desilusionados y temerosos. Queremos tener la certeza de que estamos en el camino correcto.
P: Nos reunimos junto al río para reclamar nuestro derecho de nacimiento, simbolizado por nuestro bautismo y nuestra identidad como hijos de Dios.
L: Venimos porque nos sentimos impotentes ante los poderes y principados, la inequidad y el odio. Anhelamos que los caminos torcidos sean enderezados.
P: Nos reunimos para participar en un movimiento que comenzó con los profetas y culminó en Cristo, ¡donde la justicia fluye como un río y la rectitud como un torrente inagotable!
L: Venimos porque nos sentimos separados de Dios y los unos de los otros.
P: Nos reunimos junto al río para recibir la seguridad de Dios, a través de la Palabra y el sacramento, de que pertenecemos a Dios y, como hermanos de Cristo, somos amados por Él.
L: Venimos porque estamos atribulados y angustiados, como los discípulos que temían cuando las olas azotaban su barca durante la tormenta.
P: Nos reunimos junto al río para experimentar la paz que reposaba sobre Jesús y para escuchar, en el canto de las aves, el deleite del Padre en el Hijo.
L: Venimos para experimentar, en la Santa Comunión, la presencia de Dios con nosotros y la realidad del Reino de Dios: el "ya" y el "todavía no".
P: Nos reunimos junto al río para ser liberados por un Dios que abre un camino seguro para todos y hace retroceder a los opresores.
