Primera lectura
2 Timoteo 4, 1-8
Querido hermano: En presencia de Dios y de Cristo Jesús, que ha de venir a juzgar a los vivos y a los mu***os, te pido encarecidamente, por su advenimiento y por su Reino, que anuncies la palabra; insiste a tiempo y a destiempo; convence, reprende y exhorta con toda paciencia y sabiduría.

Porque vendrá un tiempo en que los hombres no soportarán la doctrina sana, sino que, arrastrados por sus propias pasiones, se rodearán de maestros que les halaguen el oído; se harán sordos a la verdad y sólo escucharán las fábulas.

Tú, en cambio, sé siempre prudente, soporta los sufrimientos, cumple tu trabajo de evangelizador y desempeña a la perfección tu ministerio.

Para mí ha llegado la hora del sacrificio y se acerca el momento de mi partida. He luchado bien en el combate, he corrido hasta la meta, he perseverado en la fe. Ahora sólo espero la corona merecida, con la que el Señor, justo juez, me premiará en aquel día, y no solamente a mí, sino a todos aquellos que esperan con amor su glorioso advenimiento.

Marcos 12, 38-44
En aquel tiempo, enseñaba Jesús a la multitud y le decía: “¡Cuidado con los escribas! Les encanta pasearse con amplios ropajes y recibir reverencias en las calles; buscan los asientos de honor en las sinagogas y los primeros puestos en los banquetes; se echan sobre los bienes de las viudas haciendo ostentación de largos rezos. Estos recibirán un castigo muy riguroso”.

En una ocasión Jesús estaba sentado frente a las alcancías del templo, mirando cómo la gente echaba allí sus monedas. Muchos ricos daban en abundancia. En esto, se acercó una viuda pobre y echó dos moneditas de muy poco valor. Llamando entonces a sus discípulos, Jesús les dijo: “Yo les aseguro que esa pobre viuda ha echado en la alcancía más que todos. Porque los demás han echado de lo que les sobraba; pero ésta, en su pobreza ha echado todo lo que tenía para vivir”.

2 Timothy 4:1-8
Beloved:
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus,
who will judge the living and the dead,
and by his appearing and his kingly power:
proclaim the word;
be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient;
convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching.
For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine
but, following their own desires and insatiable curiosity,
will accumulate teachers and will stop listening to the truth
and will be diverted to myths.
But you, be self-possessed in all circumstances;
put up with hardship;
perform the work of an evangelist;
fulfill your ministry.For I am already being poured out like a libation,
and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have competed well;
I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.
From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me,
which the Lord, the just judge,
will award to me on that day, and not only to me,
but to all who have longed for his appearance.

In the course of his teaching Jesus said,
“Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes
and accept greetings in the marketplaces,
seats of honor in synagogues,
and places of honor at banquets.
They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext,
recite lengthy prayers.
They will receive a very severe condemnation.”He sat down opposite the treasury
and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury.
Many rich people put in large sums.
A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents.
Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them,
“Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more
than all the other contributors to the treasury.
For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth,
but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had,
her whole livelihood.”

Primera lectura
2 Timoteo 3, 10-17
Querido hermano: Tú has seguido de cerca mis enseñanzas y mi modo de vivir, mis planes, mi fe, mi paciencia, mi amor fraterno, mi constancia, mis persecuciones y sufrimientos, como los que soporté en Antioquía, en Iconio y en Listra. ¡Qué duras persecuciones tuve que sufrir! Pero de todas me libró el Señor.

Todos los que quieran vivir como buenos cristianos, también serán perseguidos. Por su parte, los malos y perversos irán de mal en peor, engañando a otros y engañándose a sí mismos.

Tú, en cambio, permanece firme en lo que has aprendido y se te ha confiado, pues bien sabes de quiénes lo aprendiste y desde tu infancia estás familiarizado con la Sagrada Escritura, la cual puede darte la sabiduría que, por la fe en Cristo Jesús, conduce a la salvación.

Toda la Sagrada Escritura está inspirada por Dios y es útil para enseñar, para reprender, para corregir y para educar en la virtud, a fin de que el hombre de Dios sea perfecto y esté enteramente preparado para toda obra buena.

El mismo David, inspirado por el Espíritu Santo, ha declarado: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi derecha y yo haré de tus enemigos el estrado donde pongas los pies. Si el mismo David lo llama ‘Señor’, ¿cómo puede ser hijo suyo?”

La multitud que lo rodeaba, que era mucha, lo escuchaba con agrado.

You have followed my teaching, way of life,
purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions,
and sufferings, such as happened to me
in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra,
persecutions that I endured.
Yet from all these things the Lord delivered me.
In fact, all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus
will be persecuted.
But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad to worse,
deceivers and deceived.
But you, remain faithful to what you have learned and believed,
because you know from whom you learned it,
and that from infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures,
which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching,
for refutation, for correction,
and for training in righteousness,
so that one who belongs to God may be competent,
equipped for every good work.

so how is he his son?”
The great crowd heard this with delight.

Primera lectura
2 Timoteo 2, 8-15
Querido hermano: Recuerda siempre que Jesucristo, descendiente de David, resucitó de entre los mu***os, conforme al Evangelio que yo predico. Por este Evangelio sufro hasta llevar cadenas, como un malhechor; pero la Palabra de Dios no está encadenada. Por eso lo sobrellevo todo por amor a los elegidos, para que ellos también alcancen en Cristo Jesús la salvación, y con ella, la gloria eterna.

Es verdad lo que decimos:
“Si morimos con él, viviremos con él;
si nos mantenemos firmes, reinaremos con él;
si lo negamos, él también nos negará;
si le somos infieles, él permanece fiel,
porque no puede contradecirse a sí mismo”.

Eso es lo que has de enseñar. Adviérteles a todos, delante de Dios, que eviten las discusiones por cuestión de palabras, lo cual no sirve para nada, sino para perdición de los oyentes.

Esfuérzate por presentarte ante Dios como un trabajador intachable, que no tiene de qué avergonzarse y predica fielmente la verdad.

Marcos 12, 28-34
En aquel tiempo, uno de los escribas se acercó a Jesús y le preguntó: “¿Cuál es el primero de todos los mandamientos?” Jesús le respondió: “El primero es: Escucha, Israel: El Señor, nuestro Dios, es el único Señor; amarás al Señor, tu Dios, con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, con toda tu mente y con todas tus fuerzas. El segundo es éste: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. No hay ningún mandamiento mayor que éstos”.

El escriba replicó: “Muy bien, Maestro. Tienes razón, cuando dices que el Señor es único y que no hay otro fuera de él, y amarlo con todo el corazón, con toda el alma, con todas las fuerzas, y amar al prójimo como a uno mismo, vale más que todos los holocaustos y sacrificios”.

Jesús, viendo que había hablado muy sensatamente, le dijo: “No estás lejos del Reino de Dios”. Y ya nadie se atrevió a hacerle más preguntas.

2 Timothy 2:8-15
Beloved:
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David:
such is my Gospel, for which I am suffering,
even to the point of chains, like a criminal.
But the word of God is not chained.
Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of those who are chosen,
so that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus,
together with eternal glory.
This saying is trustworthy:

If we have died with him
we shall also live with him;
if we persevere
we shall also reign with him.
But if we deny him
he will deny us.
If we are unfaithful
he remains faithful,
for he cannot deny himself.

Remind people of these things
and charge them before God to stop disputing about words.
This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen.
Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God,
a workman who causes no disgrace,
imparting the word of truth without deviation.

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
"Which is the first of all the commandments?"
Jesus replied, "The first is this:

with all your soul, with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these."
The scribe said to him, "Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him, "You are not far from the Kingdom of God."
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
