We have been blessed to have Sis. Kiley Corbin come worship with us at Knoxville PBC the last few years while attending UT and her soon to be husband Ryan Dowlen attending the last couple of years as well. We were happy to celebrate their recent graduations today during our lunch time after church. Pray for this young couple as they both have new positions here in Knoxville and for their life together as they plan to be married later in the summer!
God bless

June 7 2026 Deut ch. 4 There are 3 occasions in this chapter where Moses encourages the Israelites to Take Heed of Yourselves. Those contexts include
1. Dont add to or take anything away from the words of the Lord. Teach your sons and your son's sons the commandments and statures of the Lord and remember them for generations. Also, having a healthy reverential fear of the Lord.
2. Not to make any graven images or gods of men's hands, nor worship and person, animal, or heavenly body.
3. To remember the covenant of the Lord.

Acts 20 Luke tell the shepherds to take heed to themselves and to the flock, feed the flock, that Jesus hath redeemed with his own blood.

I Tim 4 Paul tells Timothy to take heed to thyself and to the doctrine.

Let us be careful to take heed of ourselves with the thought in mind that we are purchased possessions of the Lord Jesus and we belong to the Lord in multiple ways, one of which is that we are bought with a price, the precious blood of the Lamb.

May 31 2026 End of Deut 3 "28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see."
In this chapter Moses recounts asking the Lord to enter into Canaan, but explains how the Lord was angered by his actions in Num 20 with smiling the rock the 2nd time after he was told to speak to the rock. In scripture, many times leadership is held to a high standard. As a judgement of the Lord for this action, Moses is not allowed to enter into Canaan's land, but rather will only be able to view the land from Mt. Pisgah.
Moses is preparing the camp of Israel to go into Canaan without him, while many have never known life without Moses leadership. Moses charges Joshua (as the Lord chose him to lead the people), then he is told to encourage Joshua, after that Moses is supposed to strengthen Joshua! As we journey along in the New Testament Canaan, the Church of the Lord Jesus, let us endeavor to encourage one another, work toward the teaching of Rev 3:2 to strengthen the things that remain, and take heed to the charge as it is delivered.....hopefully on a regular basis from our pulpits.

May 17 2026 Deut 3 Moses recounts how their Lord led the Israelites through the land if Bashan and the leaders and people were hostile to the Israelites. Their king's name was Og and he was from the remnant of the giants. The Lord delivered Og and all his people into the hands of the Israelites granting victory and deliverance over their enemies, even those that were giants. Ps 22 David is describing the scene at the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus in prophecy and states that the bulls of Bashan have compassed him and mocked him. Sometimes, the Lord's people face many of the same enemies from generation to generation (I John the last of the eyes, fresh, and pride) and sometimes we face giants......or things that seem as giants to us (strong bulls of Bashan). Mk 15 The good news is the Lord conquered all at Calvary and with his triumph out of the tomb. Death, hell, And the grave and delivered us out of the hands of the giants once again just as he has countless times in generations gone by for his people.

May 10 2026 Mk 5 Deut 2 Judges 5 Gal 4 The wild Gadarean was living among the tombs, no man could tame him, often bound in fetters and chains, but would break then asunder. When Jesus passed by his way, he commanded the demon to come out of him. What a wonderful change, when Jesus passed by. The next time he was seen, he was clothed and in his right mind. He desires to go with the Lord in a boat, but he is told by the Saviour to go home and tell your friends what great things the Lord hath done for you.
When Moses is describing the journey to Canaan, he is telling the younger generation of the providential care of the Lord through deserts, mountains, hostile neighbors, hunger, thirst, and even giants. This new generation of Israelites that Moses is motivating and encouraging to go down into Canaan and possess it, he is doing the very thing the Lord commanded in Mk 5. Let us be careful to tell our friends if the good things the Lord hath done for us!

May 3 2026 Deut ch 1 part 2
As Moses is speaking to the next generation of Israelites after losing an entire generation in the wilderness (all males 20 years and up except Joshua and Caleb) he states that the Lord has multiplied that nation which was a great fulfillment of promises from Gen 12, Gen 15, etc. In a similar fashion today, the Lord is able to bless and multiply His people in many ways even after the loss of a generation. Let us be careful to give the Lord thanks for the blessings of His church kingdom today. Moses continues to recount the fear in the hearts of many from the 10 spies, 40 years prior, that told of strong houses, tall walls, and even the children of the Anakims (a family of people giant in stature such as Goliath and his brethren). Moses instructs the people that the Lord has given them the land for a possession. Let us keep in memory, we serve the same God that is still able to go before us and fight our battles and drive down the giants (whatever, or whomever, they may be today whenever, or wherever, they happen) that may cause us great fear and frustration today.

1 While wandering to and fro,
In this wide world of wo,
Where streams of sorrow flow,
Give me Jesus!

Chorus:
Give me Jesus!
Give me Jesus!
You may know all the world!
Give me Jesus!

2 When tears o'erflow mine eye,
When pressed by grief I sigh;
Still this shall be my cry,
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

3 When to the mercy-seat
I go my Lord to meet,
My heart shall still repeat,
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

4 And when my faith is tried,
In him will I confide,
And all the storms outride:
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

5 Though strength and friends shall fail,
And foes my soul assail,
Through him I shall prevail
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

6 And when my toils are o'er,
When nearing Jordan's shore,
I'll sing as up I soar,
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

7 When at the judgment-seat,
I stand at Jesus' feet;
When worlds on worlds shall meet,
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]

8 When heaven and earth shall flee,
When time shall cease to be,
Through all eternity,
Give me Jesus! [Chorus]
