Tuesday evening, our Bible study focused on Romans 1:8-17. In this portion of scripture, Paul is sharing how he has been praying for those he does not know personally. Paul also shares that he is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We, too, can pray for those we may not know personally. As Family Bible Church, we have been praying for visitors and opportunities to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ where we live and work throughout the week. Our prayer as a church family is to encourage other believers like Paul did and share Christ with those who do not believe.

Yesterday morning, we were in Romans 14, and were challenged with the reminder to walk in grace and love toward one another regarding personal convictions and preferences. God has given the church a certain freedom in many things. However, we are not to use that freedom or liberty as a means to do what we want or to cause our brother or sister to stumble. We are to build the body by building up its members. If we know a brother or sister struggles with an area where we have liberty, we are to let go of that liberty for their sake. We are one body. When one member suffers, we suffer with them. When one member rejoices, we rejoice with them. However, how are we to suffer with them if we do not know of their suffering? How are we to rejoice if we are not aware of the need to rejoice? If we are to suffer or rejoice with one another, we must be close and intimate enough to know there is something to suffer or something to rejoice in.

When you are called to follow Christ, and be His disciples, are you called to be a part of something bigger then yourself. You are called to be a part of the Body of Christ.

Sunday morning, we had the pleasure of having Dan Nave/Executive Director, Southeast Church Extension with us to go over the the Associate Church Graduation Readiness. Family Bible Church is a new church plant ministry of SCE. We launched in Nov 2021 and have been growing as a church over the past 4 1/2 years. There are seven areas that are evaluated to establish an associate church's readiness to graduate from a mission church status to a fully autonomous church.

Those areas are as follows:
1. Faith - consistent faith experience; leadership make decisions that reflect a confident faith in God
2. Foundation - incorporation, association membership, doctrinal statement, constitution, and policies
3. Focus - clearly articulated and understood values,inv purpose, vision/mission, and strategy
4. Faculty - adequate biblically qualified staff and volunteers to accomplish ministry strategies
5. Fellowship (Body Life) - healthy fellowship and relationship; significant relationship matters that may hinder fellowship
6. Facilities - accessible and safe facilities; adequate to meet current ministry needs and future expectations
7. Finances - budget; support of a pastor and missionaries; involvement with church planting

We have finished the Gospel of John and are now beginning the book of Romans. Tuesday evening, we went through a general overview of the book. Romans was written less than thirty years after Jesus had commanded His disciples to make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This young church in Rome was taught by Paul that the religious traditions were not good enough to cover their sins. Sin results in separation from God. Romans 3:22-24 says that we are all in need of a Savior. Those that have faith in Jesus Christ are declared not guilty by the gift of God's grace!

Tuesday evening, we gathered and Teaching Pastor Larry shared from Daniel 7. In this passage, we are told about the four beasts. While we wait for Jesus to return, we will continue to do what Jesus has clearly commanded believers: preach the Gospel, baptize, and teach the truth of God's Word.

Tuesday evening, we gathered for Bible study and prayer time in a home. We read John 20:11-31 and observed that Jesus was seen by many in His resurrected body. Many did not immediately know they were talking with Jesus.

We pray that many will come to faith in Jesus Christ because of Jesus working in hearts and our testimony. Family Bible Church extends an invitation to join us in Bible study on Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Please ask for additional details if interested.

Yesterday, we were in Matt 5:20-26. We were reminded why hatred for someone requires the same judgment as murdering them. In verse 20, we are told that, "unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." You see, the Pharisees had perfected the outward appearance of righteousness, and yet, the Lord Jesus called them "whitewashed tombs" because they were "full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness" (Matt 23:27, xref Isa. 29:13).

And that is what our righteousness has to exceed. In order to enter into the kingdom of God, our righteousness has to go beyond the outward display, but must include a heart that is reflected by that outward display. Our righteousness must be complete, both inwardly and outwardly. That righteousness is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is only possible for us through faith in Him.

For our midweek gathering, Teaching Pastor Larry shared a recent email from a fellow pastor in Ukraine. It was a good reminder that as believers in Jesus Christ, we desire to share Him with people in their current life events. Those events may include illness, poverty, cold weather, or hardships of war.

Our midweek tied together with the message from Sunday, when we were encouraged from Matthew 28:18-20. Jesus Christ gave marching orders to every believer. As we are going, we are to make disciples. We are to baptize disciples in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We are to teach disciples. What a succinct purpose!

Sunday morning, we had a great reminder that we do not need to come up with our own purpose and vision. God gave His Church their purpose and vision in Matthew 28:19-20.

Our purpose...our vision...is to make disciples, and to baptize them in the name of the Father, the name of the Son, and the name of the Holy Spirit. Then we are to teach and equip them with all that the Lord Jesus Christ had commanded. Nothing more nothing less.

If we do this, we are fulfilling God's design for the local church. Are you desiring to be discipled, baptized, and trained, and in need of a Church home and family? We would love to have you join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30am!

In our Tuesday evening Bible study, we were in John 20:1-10. As true and real is the death of Jesus, so is the resurrection! On the first day of the week, early in the morning, Mary Magdeline came to the tomb and found the stone had been rolled away. Jesus Christ arose! She immediately went and reported the empty tomb to others, but the disciples did not fully understand the Scripture. The disciples did not understand that Jesus would rise from the dead. We concluded with a time of prayer.
