Sacred Heart Novena Day 3: Heart of Jesus, worthy of all praise

"Once, when the Blessed Sacrament was exposed, Jesus appeared, resplendent in glory, with his five wounds that appeared as so many suns blazing forth from his sacred humanity, but above all from his adorable breast which seemed a fiery furnace. Opening his robe, he revealed his most loving and lovable heart, which was the living source of those flames."

In today's Gospel, Jesus looks out on the crowds with deep compassion. He sees that there are many longing for truth, hope, and mercy, but few with the courage to lead and serve.

We pray for an increase in vocations, that many will hear the call to be a laborer in the Lord's harvest, serving through prayer, service, evangelization, compassion, and faithful witness.

As was often the case, their story was fully told by their executioner, a man who later received baptism because he was so impressed by the courage of the men he killed. He sought out Pope Damasus and told him the story.
