Diocese of Knoxville Young Adult Ministry The Diocese of Knoxville's Young Adult Ministry Official page. Who Are Young Adults?

DioKnoxFrassati serves to imitate Jesus’s accompaniment of his disciples on the Road to Emmaus (cf Lk. 23:13-35) by providing spiritual support, Christian formation, and building peer communities rooted in faith so that young adults may be equipped to live as true disciples of Christ. Young adults are persons in their late teens, twenties, and thirties who represent diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, educational, vocational, social, political, and spiritual backgrounds. They are college students, workers, and professionals; they are persons in military service; they are single, married, divorced, or widowed; they are with or without children; they are faithful, cradle Catholics and newcomers to the faith in search of a better life.

We're excited to welcome Maria Gonzalez to Ministries Day 2026!

The Ministry of Invitation: Creating Spaces Where People Belong

In a culture where so many people feel disconnected or unseen, authentic invitation is one of the most powerful forms of evangelization.

In this inspiring session, Maria will explore:
• How intentional relationships create lasting community
• Why personal invitation matters
• Ways to build ministries where people truly belong
• How welcoming spaces can lead people to encounter Christ through friendship and faith

Whether you're leading a parish ministry, serving young adults, or simply hoping to build a more welcoming community, you'll leave encouraged and equipped to reach those on the sidelines with greater intentionality.

Maria Gonzalez is the founder of Grounded Haven, a Catholic young adult ministry dedicated to creating spaces of friendship, belonging, and authentic faith. Through meaningful conversation, intentional gatherings, and a heart for hospitality, she helps others discover that some of the most transformative moments in ministry begin with a simple invitation.

We're excited to welcome Mallory Louque to Ministries Day 2026!

The Art of Pastoral Listening

In ministry, people often don't need us to have all the answers. They need someone who is willing to be fully present.

In this practical session, Mallory will explore:
• What it means to pastorally listen
• Practical habits that help people feel heard and understood
• How to respond with compassion rather than rushing to fix a problem
• Ways to accompany others in a Christ-like manner

Whether you're serving in youth ministry, catechesis, pastoral care, or parish leadership, you'll leave better equipped to help others feel seen, known, and loved.

Mallory Louque is serving in the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Knoxville while pursuing her M.A. in Theology through the University of Notre Dame's Echo Graduate Service Program. She earned her bachelor's degrees in Theology and Religious Studies and Psychology from The Catholic University of America, along with a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry.

We're excited to welcome Claire Collins to Ministries Day 2026!

The Hidden Power of Small Group Ministry

Small groups have become a cornerstone of effective ministry, but what actually makes them work?

In this practical session, Claire will explore:
• Why small groups are so powerful for discipleship
• How to launch healthy, thriving groups
• Who should lead a small group
• Common pitfalls to avoid
• How to build a vision that multiplies over time instead of remaining stagnant

Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to strengthen an existing ministry, you'll leave with practical strategies to create small groups where authentic relationships are formed and faith can flourish.

Claire Collins is a retired FOCUS missionary and former theology teacher who now lives in Chattanooga with her husband, Andrew, and their four children. She enjoys homeschooling, leading Bible studies and book clubs, freelance writing, and helping others grow as disciples through authentic community.

We're excited to announce the return of Bishop's Young Adult Classes this fall!

Join Bishop Mark Beckman on Tuesday evenings at the Diocese of Knoxville Chancery as we journey through this year's theme: Encountering Jesus in the Gospels

Whether you're new to the faith, seeking to grow in your relationship with Christ, or looking for authentic Catholic community, these evenings are an opportunity to deepen your faith, ask questions, and walk alongside other young adults.

Our first class will be Tuesday, September 8, and classes will continue on Tuesday evenings as Bishop Beckman's schedule allows.

Please RSVP at https://dioknox.org/events/encountering-jesus-sept-8 if you plan to attend so we can ensure we have adequate seating and materials for everyone.

Join us at All Saints Catholic Church for a day of formation, fellowship, and inspiration! Ministries Day was once a beloved tradition in the Diocese of Knoxville, and we are excited to bring it back as an opportunity for ministry leaders, volunteers, and parishioners to gather, learn, and grow together.

Throughout the day, participants will choose from a variety of workshops led by experienced speakers representing many different areas of ministry. You will attend four breakout sessions, and during registration you can indicate your preferred workshops for each time slot. We will do our best to place everyone in their top workshop selections.

A boxed lunch is included with your $20 registration fee, which helps cover the cost of lunch, materials, and our presenters.

Registration closes Monday, August 3.

Please help us spread the word by sharing this invitation with other ministry leaders, volunteers, and anyone in your parish who may benefit from a day of encouragement, practical formation, and connection. We look forward to seeing you there!
