The scaffolding is down, and our steeple is shining again! ⛪️✨

After a summer of scaffolding, repairs, restoration, and a whole lot of work high above us, our newly renovated steeple is once again standing beautifully over our church and community.

This project is one of the final pieces of Restoring Sacred Spaces, our three-year capital improvements campaign. What a fitting way to near the completion of a campaign dedicated to caring for and renewing this sacred place we call home.

For generations, this steeple has stood as a witness to worship, prayer, celebration, grief, and countless moments in the life of our congregation. Now, restored and renewed, it will continue to do so for generations to come.

A familiar landmark.
A sacred symbol.
A renewed space for the future.

There is a sad, yet poignantly meaningful, theme emerging in our “Grace Notes” as the KBC Sanctuary Choir begins a new season: quotes from dear saints who have gone before us.

Parents, grandparents, and all who care about children and teenagers: here’s a brief story about the relationships across generations that can grow through church and church music.

Children’s and youth choirs offer young people far more than an opportunity to sing or ring handbells. They give them a place to belong, help them find their voices, and surround them with caring adults who encourage them, pray for them, and celebrate the gifts they share.

If you have children or grandchildren, we hope you will encourage them to become involved in a children’s or youth choir—at Kirkwood Baptist Church or wherever you live. These experiences can shape their faith, confidence, relationships, and lives in ways we may not fully recognize until years later.

Here’s the story—and one reason we believe this ministry matters so deeply:

Today we are celebrating the return of Pastor Matt from his sabbatical and the 10 years of service he and his family have given to KBC (as of June 15, 2026). We give thanks to God for Matt's faithful leadership and ministry and for the positive impact his wife, Krissi, and children, Thomas, Carolyn, and Helen Mae, have made to the life of the church.

Today, we want to recognize all of the wonderful humans who have given their time and shared their talents this week to make VBS happen. We could not have done it without every single one of them. From building, painting, and decorating to puppetry, acting, singing, and dancing, to crafting, snacking, experimenting, storytelling, playing and leading, these wonderful people have shared the love of Jesus with over 60 kiddos this week. Thank you all, so much!
