In 1876, the United States of America was celebrating its 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Alexander Graham Bell received the first U.S. patent for the telephone. Baseball's National League was established. A pound of coffee was $0.25, a pair of shoes was $0.98, a pair of Levi Jeans was around $1.13 per pair, a loaf of bread was about 5 cents, and the gasoline-powered automobile had not been invented for another 10 years or so. Public commercial electricity was just making its debut.

In 1876, Gadara Baptist Church (formerly referred to as "The Baptist Church") was officially organized in an old log cabin in what is now Gold Head Branch State Park.

A lot has changed in the last 150 years, but the faithfulness of God has never wavered. People have been worshipping God as a part of Gadara Baptist Church for 150 years, and on November 1, 2026, we'd like to invite you to come continue to legacy by worshipping with us! Services will be held outside on the church grounds with an Old Fashioned theme and dinner on the grounds immediately following the service. From our church family to your family, we would love for you to be our guest as we celebrate God's faithfulness together!
