Youth group is headed to San Antonio for the Main Event! 🎳

📅 Saturday, November 14
🚗 We leave the church at 10 AM and plan to be back around 3 PM
📍 Meet at Southern Oaks Church, 122 Valley View (next to Nimitz Elementary)
👟 Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes

Admission is covered by the church. Bring a little money for snacks if you’d like.

This one is for grades 6 to 12, and friends are welcome. Bring someone who’s never been!

To sign up, every student (friends too) needs a signed permission slip and an RSVP to Angie Walters by November 4. Call or text (830) 928-7117. Parents who can drive, please let Angie know too.

Gloom, despair and agony on me? That's what Romans 1 through the middle of chapter 3 can feel like.

The rebel, the "good" person, the religious one… Paul makes the case that we're all in the same boat. And in Romans 3 he lands the verdict: "No one is righteous—not even one." (Romans 3:10) "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard." (Romans 3:23)

But the story doesn't end in gloom. "Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." (Romans 3:24 NLT) 🙌

Justice is getting what we deserve. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Grace is getting what we could never earn. ✝️

The Two Ways to Get to Heaven

Most people are counting on the wrong one.

Way one: be good enough. The problem is that a righteous God judges fairly, and not one of us is innocent.

Way two: Jesus was perfect for us. He covers our transgressions.

Only one of them works.
