"Get Out The Boat!" Recap Questions with Answers

1. Why is faith better understood as a verb rather than just a noun?
*Because real faith requires action. It moves you, motivates you, and pushes you to do something—not just believe passively.

2. What word is faith interchangeable with, and why does that matter?
*Faith = risk. If there is no risk, there is no real faith. Faith requires stepping out without guarantees.

3. Why can’t real faith operate where there is a guarantee of victory?
*Because faith only functions where there is the possibility of failure. If outcomes are guaranteed, no faith is needed.

4. What is the first requirement for walking by faith?
*A proper perspective. How you see things shapes what you expect—and what you expect influence how you act.

5. What is the greatest enemy of your faith?
*A negative mindset. Doubt, pessimism, and defeated thinking will sabotage your faith.

6. What caused Peter to go from walking on water to sinking?
*He shifted his focus from Jesus to the wind. What he saw (the storm) overpowered what he heard (Jesus’ command).

7. What are the 3 things taught about the wind?
*Contrary (working against them, hindering progress) Boisterous (strong, forceful, destructive) Ceased (eventually, it stopped).

8. What does it mean that the wind “ceased”?
*It means the wind got tired.
The storm didn’t last forever—it gave up.

9. What is the significance of Jesus saying “It is I”?
*It connects to “I AM” (God’s name in Exodus).
Jesus was revealing: God is here. They weren’t alone, they just didn’t recognize Him.

10. What was Peter really doubting?
*He wasn’t doubting his ability to walk on water.
He was doubting whether it was truly Jesus.

Good Friday ✝️ | New Generation Christian Center

Today we remember…
Jesus paid it ALL.

Not because we deserved it.
Not because we had it all together.
But because of His grace and His love for US.

He took the nails, carried the cross and gave His life… so we could have LIFE.
And we don’t take that lightly at New Gen 🙌🏾

We’re grateful, we’re covered, and we’re walking in the victory He already secured!
It may be Friday… but we already know Sunday is coming!
