Women of the Bible

• Eve – The mother of all living, a reminder of humanity’s beginnings and God’s mercy even after failure.
• Sarah – A woman who waited, believed, and laughed her way into God’s promise.
• Hagar – Seen and heard by God in the wilderness; proof that He meets us in our pain.
• Rebekah – Chosen for purpose, known for her kindness and bold faith.
• Miriam – A leader and worshipper who celebrated God’s deliverance.
• Ruth – Loyal, humble, and redeemed; her faith placed her in the lineage of Jesus.
• Hannah – A praying woman whose tears turned into testimony.
• Esther – Brave and positioned “for such a time as this.”
• Deborah – A judge, prophet, and fearless leader.
• Mary (Mother of Jesus) – Obedient, chosen, and faithful to God’s calling.
• Mary Magdalene – Restored, devoted, and the first to witness the risen Christ.
• Martha – A servant learning the balance between doing and being with Jesus.

Each story carries strength, faith, courage, and purpose. Their lives still speak today.

Join us in prayer for all impacted by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines today. This was a strong earthquake, causing the deaths of at least 32 people and injuring hundreds. As the death toll continues to rise and as residents assess damage to homes and businesses, we pray especially for those who have lost loved ones and livelihoods.

UMCOR is coordinating with our Disaster Management Office (DMO) staff in the Philippines to provide aid and assistance to those in need. We will provide updates as soon as they are available.
