We Need Your Help This Summer!

At God’s Resort, we believe that every child deserves to feel loved, safe, and valued. One of the ways we make that possible is by providing childcare during our events so parents can fully participate, connect, and grow.

As our summer activities ramp up, we are looking for caring, dependable volunteers who would be willing to serve with our God’s Resort and neighborhood children. Whether you can help occasionally or on a regular basis, your time can make a lasting impact on a child's life.

If you enjoy encouraging kids, building relationships, and being part of what God is doing in our community, we would love to have you on the team!

Sometimes positive change starts with one person speaking up.

Last week, Joplin City Councilman Brian Cowles and Councilwoman Mary Price attended our quarterly mini tour at God’s Resort and had the opportunity to learn more about our community and the families who call it home.

In the past, our directors have advocated for additional safety measures such as crosswalks and children’s traffic signs in our neighborhood, but those efforts have not yet come to fruition.

One of our current residents, Cory Fisk, has been in conversation with Councilman Cowles about ways to improve our community. Cory shared his concerns about the lack of crosswalks, yield signs, and “Children at Play” signs throughout God’s Resort, where many children and families walk and play each day.

Because of those conversations, Cory was invited to speak before the Joplin City Council last night to advocate for safer streets and walkways in our neighborhood.

We are incredibly proud of Cory for stepping up and using his voice to champion the safety of the children and families at God’s Resort. This is what community looks like: residents taking ownership, building relationships, and working together to create positive change.

We are hopeful that these conversations will lead to crosswalks and additional safety signage in the near future.

Way to go, Cory! Thank you for representing God’s Resort so well and for caring deeply about the people who live here.

🔄 Transition Tuesday 🔄

Today, we are excited to launch a new series called Transition Tuesday, where we’ll spotlight former residents who have transitioned from God’s Resort and are continuing to thrive in their journey of freedom, growth, and independence.

Our first spotlight is Krystal Valadez-Coronado, AKA: “Krystal with a K!” ❤️

In 2020, Krystal moved into God’s Resort with just over one year of sobriety, a few personal belongings, and a determination to build a better future. What followed was a journey marked by faith, perseverance, healing, and countless examples of God’s provision.

While living at God’s Resort, Krystal worked hard to pay off child support arrears, court fines, and other debts that once seemed impossible to overcome. Within just a few years, she had paid them all off and achieved financial freedom.

But perhaps the greatest miracle was the restoration of her family.

When Krystal arrived at God’s Resort, she did not have custody of any of her children. Through prayer, perseverance, and the support of the God’s Resort community, she was able to regain legal custody and adopt both of her sons back into her family. God also restored her relationship with her oldest daughter.

Today, Krystal is celebrating 8 years of sobriety, owns her own Habitat for Humanity home, and serves as a Quality Engineer, a position she attained through years of hard work, growth, and trusting God to open the right doors.

When reflecting on her time at God’s Resort, Krystal shared:

“They say that home isn’t a place but it’s a feeling. This is my home, these are my people, and this is my renewed life.”

“I am nothing special or different from anybody else. I just followed Him, listened to Him, and listened to the people He placed in my life.”

Krystal’s story is a beautiful reminder that no situation is beyond God’s redemption and that hope, healing, and transformation are possible.

Please join us in celebrating all that God has done and continues to do in Krystal’s life! ❤️

⭐ Board Member Monday ⭐

Today, we're kicking off our new Board Member Monday series!

God’s Resort is blessed to have 14 dedicated board members who help guide and support the mission of our organization. Throughout the coming weeks, we'll be introducing you to the incredible individuals who faithfully serve behind the scenes.

Today, we're honored to spotlight our Board President, Jill Fields.

Jill is retired from the field of early childhood education and has been a longtime supporter of God's Resort. Her heart for people and commitment to our mission make her an invaluable part of our leadership team.

When asked why she chose to serve on the Board of Directors, Jill shared:

"My husband and I have loved and supported God’s Resort for many years. We love everything that God’s Resort is about, because it is what Jesus was — and is — about: loving and caring for people where they are and impacting generations to come.

“When I was asked to be on the Board, I didn’t feel qualified, but through much prayer, God asked me, 'Why not you?' I still question myself but continue to pray that God will use me for such a time as this."

Thank you, Jill, for your faithful leadership, servant's heart, and commitment to the residents and mission of God's Resort. ❤️

Thank you, Jeff and Debbie, for sharing your God moments with us this evening! ❤️

What a blessing it was to hear your stories and witness the incredible ways God has worked in and through your lives. Your testimony of faith, obedience, and service in ministry was both inspiring and encouraging to everyone who attended.

We are grateful for your willingness to share how God continues to move, transform lives, and advance His Kingdom. Thank you for reminding us that when we say “yes” to God, He can do immeasurably more than we could ever imagine.

“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.” Psalm 145:3
