ARM Prison Outreach International exists in order to honor God's calling by ministering to inmates as Christ commanded. As an arm of the church, our role is to help fulfill the biblical mandate of Jesus, " I was in prison and you came to visit me", Matthew 25:36, NIV. Our specialized programs are designed to proclaim the love and message of Jesus to the incarcerated, help lead them into a saving and personal relationship with the Savior, build them up in the faith, and equip them for a lifetime of faithful service in the Lord's Kingdom.

It started in 1973, with a preacher who did not want to go into a prison. Fifty-three years later, ARM Prison Outreach is still taking the Gospel into prisons. This is where our mission story begins: evangelizing, baptizing, discipling, and equipping the incarcerated to follow in Jesus' footsteps. Every meaningful change inside prison walls starts somewhere small. A single lesson completed. A small group someone finally works up the courage to lead. A relationship with family that slowly, carefully, starts to rebuild.

Renewed faith does not make job applications get accepted any faster. It does not automatically rebuild trust with family or make old temptations disappear from old neighborhoods.

What it can do is give someone a reason to keep going when everything else says quit, especially when that faith is reinforced by community, accountability, meaningful work, and continued discipleship along the way.

Inside prison walls, identity gets reduced fast. A number. A conviction. A record of the worst thing you have ever done. For a long time, that is exactly how one man saw himself too.

Our Christian education does not ask incarcerated men and women to minimize what they have done. It invites them to confront their actions honestly, while also discovering that their worst decision does not have to be the final word over their lives.

A Bible handed over is not the same as a Bible studied.

Participants in our program work through 23 studies that require reading, reflection, perseverance, and application, not a quick devotional to skim between other things. The progression moves from foundational truths, to confronting personal choices, to eventually developing the confidence to mentor and lead others.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at ARM Prison Outreach!

As we pause to recognize the dedication and hard work of people across our communities, we are especially grateful for the donors, churches, volunteers, chaplains, and ministry partners who help bring hope and encouragement to men and women behind prison walls.

Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8.

His name, printed at the top of a certificate. For a man who had spent years being told he would never amount to anything, that single piece of paper carried more weight than most people realize.

It was not just proof of a finished course. It was evidence of discipline, spiritual growth, and a future that no longer had to be dictated by his past.

In many correctional systems, certificates of completion can be a powerful tool. They may help eligible participants earn time off their sentences, and certificates like the ones connected to ARM studies have helped account for more than 200 years of reduced time served.
