On Friday September 4th, John Griffin passed away at Laurel View Village in Davidsville. John was an important part of our Bethany family, serving for many years as one of our organists. He played for countless Morning Worship Services, holidays, and so much more. John brought life back to a pair of organs, one that was donated by former organist Zane Sanner and one that had sat in the back of the sanctuary for many years. John was also a friendly person who enjoyed having conversations before and after church.

John is survived by family and many friends, including his neighbors from Laurel View Village. A celebration of life will be held at Laurel View Village on Monday September 21st at 2:30 p.m. and all are invited to attend.

In memory of John and in celebration of the gifts that he shared with us, tomorrow's bulletin will feature The Musician's Prayer on the cover.

Today we pause and remember the lives lost on this day 25 years ago. We remember seeing the images from New York, Washington, and right in our own backyard in Shanksville. We pray for the families and friends who never got to say goodbye and who carry on the stories and legacies of their loved ones all these years later.

We continue to pray for peace both here and around the world. We pray for our service men and women defending our freedom. And we pray we never have to experience another day like 9/11/01 ever again.

We continue to pray for our friends and neighbors who have been affected by the recent storms and power outages. Many in the Johnstown area are still cleaning up and will ne doing so throughout the coming days. If you have to travel, be safe and be careful.

Thank you to all of the lineman and others from the local utility companies and those coming from other areas who are working long hours to restore services. Keep them in your prayers so that they may complete their work and get home safely.

We will be having Morning Worship tomorrow at 10:30 and we hope you'll join us!

Good Morning!

Prayers to everyone affected by last night's storms here in the Johnstown area. We also lift up all of the first responders and utility workers who have been out in harm's way overnight and who will be over the next couple days restoring services and cleaning up the mess left behind.

Be sure to check on your family and neighbors to make sure they are ok and have all that they need.

As a new school year begins for the children in our area, we take a minute to pray for a safe, successful year for all of them. We also pray for the teachers, staff, and administrators as they use their skills and knowledge to educate our youth.
