St Patrick Catholic Church - Johnstown

We wanted to offer a little bit of clarification. Earlier this week, the Mayor posted a video suggesting that there would be a public forum meeting at St Patrick Church.

The meeting was never intended to be at the Church, as we wouldn't have a meeting of that sort inside the sanctuary. It was a miscommunication by some people unrelated to our parish who confused the location with the previous prayer vigil on the steps a few weeks ago.

The actual public forum will be held this Sunday, June 7th at 3:30PM at First Summit Arena. There will be a gathering of public officials who will have a public forum and Q&A with the general public. We certainly encourage any city residents or interested people to attend.

Thanks to everyone who came along on our Sight and Sound Trip Yesterday! Joshua was a wonderful show. Next year, we'll be planning another trip for Jonah!

Three years ago, there was a shooting on the same street as our Church and we held a prayer vigil for the family and for peace in our city. This week we had another. We were also saddened to hear it was the relative of a parishioner. Please join us at 730pm next Thursday as we pray with the families of the victims of these recent tragedies.

Many years ago, the late Msgr Kiniry served at St Patrick Church. He had a special devotion to St Patrick. This week we were gifted a special chalice that used to belong to him for use at St Patrick's.

It details the various scenes of Patrick's life. His capture as a slave, his life learning to pray as a shepherd, his miraculous voyage back to England after his escape, and his preaching driving out the snakes (demons) from Ireland.

We'll be using this chalice at our St Patrick Masses for the next few weeks.
