When You Don’t Have the Words🤍
There are moments in life when our hearts are so heavy that we don’t even know what to say.
We try to pray, but the words don’t come. We may sit in silence, cry, sigh, or simply whisper, “sweet Jesus, help me.” Sometimes the weight we are carrying is too deep to put into a sentence. They are simply explained by tears.
But here is the beautiful truth of Romans 8:26:
““Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us…”
God never expected us to always have the right words.
He knows the prayers that never made it past our lips. He knows the tears we cried when no one else was watching. He knows the burdens we couldn't explain, the questions we couldn't answer, and the places in our hearts that we didn't know how to express.
And when we don't know what to pray, the Comforter, the Holy Ghost helps us.
Think about that for a moment.
You don't have to come before God with a perfectly worded prayer. You don't have to have everything figured out. You don't have to know exactly what you need.
You can simply come.
Come with the tears.
Come with the silence.
Come with the questions.
Come with the broken pieces.
Come when your faith feels strong, and come when you're struggling to find the strength to pray at all.
Because even when you don't have the words, God understands your heart.
What a comfort it is to know that when our prayers feel weak, the Holy Ghost is interceding for us. We are never praying alone.
So if today you don't know what to say, don't give up on prayer.
Just begin with, “Lord, You know.”
And trust that He does. 🤍
