There is a classic parable about a man who lived in a cabin with a massive boulder blocking his front door. One day, God spoke to the man and gave him a clear instruction: "Push against the rock with all your might."
So, the man woke up every day, put his shoulder to the stone, and pushed until he was exhausted. Weeks turned into months. Finally, frustrated and defeated, the man cried out, "Lord, I have failed! I’ve been pushing for a year, and the boulder hasn’t moved a single inch!"
The Lord gently replied, "I never told you to move the boulder. I told you to push against it. Your task was obedience; moving the rock is My job. Look at your arms, your back, your legs—you are stronger now than you have ever been."
Thousands of years ago, the family of Abraham faced a boulder they could not move. The covenant was completely stuck. But instead of trying to move it in his own fleshly power, Isaac did something radically different. He dropped his hands, fell to his knees, and relied entirely on grace.
