The sermon today was entitled, "Rubber Meets The Road - Relying on God's Strength." Elijah ran. In his weakest moment the Lord ministered to him strength. The Bible says that he was a man just like us yet he prayed and rain stopped and started. Prayer is powerful. Elijah had just seen fire fall from heaven, but this one attack from Jezebel caught him off guard and sent him reeling. The Lord knows our weaknesses and doesn't condemn us for them. He provides for us even in those moments. The Bible says man shall not live by bread alone. Whatever you are going through today...maybe you are at your lowest...Be reminded that God will provide what you have need of and will give you strength for the next length of your journey. Reminder: Tonight is Thursday night Bible study. Adults will meet in the Sanctuary and New Hope Kidz will meet in our CAFE. Pastor Andy will put on the coffee and will be doing a study entitled, "Every thought captive." In this study, we will learn how thoughts shape our lives and the importance of bringing our thoughts inline with the Word of God so that we can effectively battle the strategies of the enemy.

Also in New Hope Kidz... our Mad Scientist Lisa will be doing an experiment demonstrating the key concept of how God is stronger than our circumstances.

The sermon today was entitled, "Rubber Meets The Road - Prepare For Rain." In 1 Kings chapter 18, Elijah prays for rain that would end a long drought. Just prior to this he had called down fire from heaven with a single prayer, but this time it would take seven times before he would see any sign of an answer. Prayer prepares us for what God wants to do in our lives. It prepares our hearts to receive and to hear from Him. This week Pastor Andy talked about the importance of preparing your heart for what God wants to bring in our lives. If you've been experiencing some kind of drought or desert place in your life, know this, that this is soon coming to an end, but it all begins when you come into alignment with God. The sermon today was entitled, "Rubber Meets The Road - Only Jesus" God will often bless us with mountaintop experiences, but we were never meant to live on top of the mountain. In Mark chapter 9, Jesus takes Peter, James, and John to a mountaintop where Jesus is transfigured before them and Moses and Elijah appear. Peter wanted to build shelters and stay there, but there was still a work to be done. When they came down from the mountain, they encountered a chaotic environment. People were arguing. The disciples had tried to deliver a boy afflicted by a demon with no results. This is where the rubber meets the road. Jesus delivered the boy, He addressed unbelief, and instructed the disciples that some circumstances take more than just casual prayer. Mountaintop experiences will give us encouragement and carry us, but it's the everyday spiritual disciplines that keep us and help us to do the work He has called us to accomplish through Him. In the story of David and Goliath, David chooses five smooth stones. He only used one. He stood in faith, believing God could take down Goliath. The Bible says he killed him with the stone, but then he did something drastic so it seems. He took Goliath's own sword and cut off his head. There are some battles whether it be temptation, addictions, or attacks of the enemy that we need to deal aggressively with as opposed to passively allowing things to cross the battle lines into our lives.
