Running from God and towards sin will always and only bring regrets to the life of a Christian.
After the novelty, and euphoria of immediate and self-serving pleasure is gone and the sense of guilt, and shame for sin settle in on the conscience; it is in that moment of lucidity that you must flee back to the cross and humble yourself and repent. Lest you continue in the way of sin and separation from God. It doesn't take long for the effects of sin to bring a callous to your conscience and a chilling effect upon the heart of the Christian where God and spiritual matters are concerned. The heart hardens toward the word of God like Pharoah when Mose spoke to him. The neck stiffens when the word of God is brought up, like the children of Israel. It happens when the person that cares enough to tell you of truth is trying to be a true friend.
If you continue in sin, the days will pass into months and the months possibly into years until you get to the place of when, and if you get right with God,... WHEN and IF you get right with God, He will forgive you, but you will carry regrets because of the memories that linger knowing you didn't have to go that way.
Regret of sin -- sin always costs you more than you wanted to pay
Regret of loss caused by sin -- money, friends, job,
Regret of wasted time -- wishing you could have some of it back
Regret because of people you hurt along the way -- family, friends
Regret of lost or missed opportunity in life -- job, education, money
Regret of broken relationships -- not seeing the importance of the person

This list is shortened, by reason of space, but the truth of the matter is that it could be much longer.
Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.
