As seen in the bible, God uses ordinary, everyday people to advance his kingdom. It was God who impressed upon Mother Maude Ford's heart to start a work in her home at 16 West 136th Street in New York City in 1920. The Lord led Mother Ford to Jamaica, Queens to hold its first open-air service in July 1925. Consequently service was held in the garage abutting the property located at 157-01 110th A
venue, Jamaica, New York, and later on the first floor of that building
In April 1931, the church was incorporated and named Christ Pentecostal Temple, Inc. Mother Ford, whom the Lord entrusted with great faith and the gift of healing continued to follow the Lord's leading and negotiated the purchase of the land and construction of the current church edifice located at 109-45 157th Street, Jamaica, New York and dedicated in 1953.. She later passed the mantel of shepherding onto Elder Marion Lockett in 1969. Elder Lockett took the mantel and began to seek the mind of God concerning the vision for the church. Pastor Lockett continued to advance the ministry with the help of Elder Wilford Moore who was appointed and ordained as his Assistant Pastor. Pastor Lockett was successful in enlarging the territories of the church by acquiring additional church property including the current parsonage . He envisioned the church by the railroad tracks as a Lighthouse, a "Soul Saving Station." In 2003, Bishop Marion Lockett was called home to be with the Lord; it was his desire that in the event of his passing, one of his sons in the Gospel would continue the legacy and vision he created for the church. After the passing of Bishop Lockett, the church re-established its Constitutions and Bylaws along with various infrastructures. On August 10, 2004, Pastor Derrick Farmer was given the title of Senior Pastor of Christ Pentecostal Temple, Inc. Our Statement of Faith
We believe that we should earnestly contend for God's standard of salvation. In the Word of God we find nothing short of a holy, Spirit-filled life with the signs following as on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:4; 8:14-17; 10:44-48; 10:1-6, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 12:14). The only ground upon which God will accept a sinner is repentance from the heart for the sins that he has committed. (Psalm 51:17, Luke 24:47)
We believe in water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the receiving of the Holy Ghost, with the evidence of tongues. (Acts 2:38; 10:44-48; 19:1-6)
