In a world where almost everything can be copied or two-factor authenticated, real faith stands out.

The sons of Sceva knew the right words to say, but they didn't actually know Jesus. They were trying to borrow someone else's relationship with Him, and it was exposed.

The same question from Acts 19 still confronts us today:
Are we following Jesus, or just familiar with the language of faith?

As we were reminded this past sunday, church attendance, prayers, and Christian vocabulary aren't substitutes for intimacy with Christ.

Faith was never meant to be borrowed. It was meant to be personal.

"Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" (Acts 19:15)

Church isn't just a service you attend. It's a family you belong to.

At Fathom, one of our core values is to 'Belong in Authentic Community'. Time and again, we've seen God use simple invitations, genuine friendships, and a church family on mission to transform lives.

Genuine repentance burns what you used to trust, and sometimes those things can sneak up on us.

What begins as something good, like our finances, achievements, success, or even personal growth, can slowly become something we depend on more than God.

True repentance is recognizing those misplaced trusts, surrendering them to God, and returning to Him as our ultimate source of hope, peace, and direction.

“Freedom in Christ starts before the chains come off...even when we've been wronged, we can still walk in freedom.”

In Acts, we see that God’s work of freedom often begins long before our circumstances change.

Hearts transform before situations.
Hope comes before the breakthrough.
He reminds us who we are before we fully see what He’s doing.
