Good Morning Everyone,

It happened last Tuesday, August 25th. On that rainy afternoon, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, left this world and entered eternity. By all accounts, including her own testimony, Dolly knew Jesus. She often spoke of her faith and trust in Jesus! I love what she said on one occasion. Speaking of her own mortality, Dolly said, “if it’s your time, it’s God’s will, and if it ain’t, it’s going to be fine anyway!” Was she perfect, no, but then again, who amongst us is perfect? I am not and I imagine you aren’t either.

I thought about how far she had come in this world. Her family had nothing when it comes to the material things of this world. They lived in a tiny, primitive two-room log cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. When I say, “they,” I am talking about fourteen family members in that one log cabin. No electricity, no running water.

Dolly’s family was so poor, they had no money for toys for the boys or dolls for the girls. Dolly would get old corn cobs from the pig pens and pretend they were toy department dolls. It gets cold in the mountains of Tennessee. When it was time for Dolly to go to school, she needed a winter coat. Her family simply could not afford one. So, her mom sewed rags together and fashioned a coat of many colors for her girl. Her schoolmates made fun of her, and laughed at her, and on more than one occasion, mocked her by locking her in of all places, the coat closet. Dolly was proud of that coat and years later would write a hit song about it.

The day after her high school graduation, Dolly left that little cabin and headed to Nashville. She had grown up singing, writing, and playing a guitar. She was in search of a recording contract and a career using her God-given gifts of song. Like her childhood, it didn’t come easy. Dolly found herself barely scrapping by. She was so hungry, she would literally walk the halls of the hotels, looking for room service trays left outside of the rooms with scraps of half eaten food. That’s how she got by. Her big break came when Porter Wagner hired her to be a regular on his weekly television show. As they say in Hollywood, or better, Dollywood, the rest is history!

Dolly wrote over 3,000 songs, sold more than 100 million records and won 11 Grammy Awards! Her career afforded her the means to give millions and millions of dollars to wonderful causes and needs. Perhaps the greatest, she founded, “The Imagination Library,” to honor her father who could not read. The goal, put great books, at no charge, into the hands of children from birth to age five. To date, those precious children have received over 310,000,000 books!

I love something Dolly told, “The Jesus Podcast,” in 2018. She said, “I pray every day that God will lead me, guide me, and direct me, and that He’ll bring all the right people into my life, and that He’ll take all the wrong things out. She went on to say, “I ask Him to let me every day, to do something to uplift mankind, and to glorify Him!” I love and so appreciate that! Don’t you?

Regardless of how little Dolly possessed at the beginning of her life, and how much she had acquired by the end of her life, all that mattered, as it will for you and me, do we know Jesus, have we made our life count for Him?

It happened last Tuesday, August 25th.

Good Morning Everyone,

I know that many of you have prayed for and supported our Missionary to Scotland, Macy Henson. Last night I received an update from the young lady that I’d like to share with you. Here is her update;

Today I went on a hike in Callander and saw some of the most beautiful places. After that, we walked through the village and spoke to many of the locals. From our conversations, only 2-3% of the population in Scotland are Christians and of those it is primarily either Protestant or Catholic. Some of the things they face currently is generational welfare and joblessness, drug abuse, and a high rate of su***de and depression. There are churches here but most services have 10-20 members tops. There is more a need for long term mission work here where relationships can be built and people loved on who live difficult lives. One thing I can say is everyone I’ve met has been kind and generous. They have a pride for their country and think it is just as beautiful as I do.

Good Morning Everyone,

This is going to sound a tad immature, but remember who the author is of this note? This past Wednesday night, in a word,“WOW!” What an incredible start we got off to with our, “Fall Bible Studies!” The classes, the teaching, the food, the fellowship, again, in a word, “WOW!” We enjoyed a great, great night! If you were, “in the house,” I believe you whole heartily concur! If you weren’t able to be with us, you aren’t too far behind to catch up! So, please, by all means, get it all done this Wednesday and get to class this Wednesday night!

“THE MAIN EVENT,” tomorrow morning, Pastor Rick picks back up, right where he left off last Sunday! Lord willing, it’s part two of, “A Fool And His Hunny,” from I Samuel 25! Now come on, we are learning so much from these messages! We are also challenged like maybe never before! The Word, when it is sown, does not return void! The man of God has been doing some, “SERIOUS,” sowing, and I have absolutely no doubt, that as a result, “MUCH,” spiritual fruit is going to be gained! It will be! Don’t miss this message!

Three Quick Reminders;

ONE, we now are offering the fantastic, “AWANA,” program for our children on Wednesday nights! Carla Coffrin has really taken the reins of this ministry! Your children are going to learn scripture and learn how to live out scripture, like never before! They will! Please do everything you can to get your child to AWANAS on Wednesday nights. We have one immediate need. We need two or three adults that are interested in serving as game directors. All you need to do is stop by our AWANA table in the lobby after the service tomorrow morning. Carla will meet you there, give you all of the information you need to serve as a game director, and will get you ready to roll!

TWO, we will baptize tomorrow morning. If you have been saved, and for one reason or another, you have not had the opportunity to be baptized, tomorrow is your opportunity! All you need to do is bring along a tee shirt, a pair of shorts, or a bathing suit, meet with us at 10:20 stage front, and we’ll get you ready for baptism!

THREE, “GAME NIGHT,” is Saturday, September 12! Pick up a flyer tomorrow morning and sign up in the lobby with Pat Littleton.

Here We Go, Tomorrow Morning, 10:30!
