Our Bishop always seems to hear God even more clearly as he "hovers closer to heaven" on His many Jaunts for Jesus! This trip (to Africa) was no different, so much so, that he brought back a powerful lesson on obedience entitled, Obedient Investment.
1 Chronicles 29:6 lays out story of King David's sacrificial giving for Solomon's temple revealing a profound truth about investing in God's kingdom work. David and his mighty men contributed over $40 billion in today's currency toward a building they would never worship in, demonstrating the heart of generational thinking.
They understood that mature believers are called to think beyond themselves and invest in futures that outlive them.
This principle was powerfully illustrated through a modern example from Zimbabwe, where a local businessman and his wife felt led to invest $10,000 in a school building project thousands of miles away. Despite their own church's building needs, they chose obedience over convenience, investing in children they would never meet and graduations they would never attend.
Their example shows that giving isn't about what you have, but about obedience to what God is asking you to do.
God doesn't require equal giving or equal sacrifice from everyone, but He does ask for equal obedience.
Heaven measures giving differently than earth does. While the world counts dollars, God counts devotion and commitment. The widow's two mites were precious not because of their monetary value, but because of her complete obedience.
When we invest in Christian education, ministry projects, or kingdom work, we're not just building structures; we're shaping generations and preserving God's design for the future.
