The Tomb Was Guarded… But Death Wasn’t Strong Enough. It wasn’t the end!!♥️🥹

They sealed the stone.
They set the guards.
They made it as secure as humanly possible.

Because they remembered what the disciples forgot… “After three days I will rise again.” (Matthew 27:63)

So Rome stood watch over a grave…
as if soldiers could stop a Savior.

But early that morning…
“There was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended… and rolled back the stone.” (Matthew 28:2)

Not to let Jesus out. But to let the world see.

He was already gone.

And the guards?
“They became as dead men.” (Matthew 28:4)

The ones assigned to watch the dead…
fell powerless before the One who defeated it.

And then there was Mary.

She didn’t come expecting a miracle.
She came expecting a body.

Grieving. Broken. Carrying spices for burial.

Until, “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.” (Luke 24:5–6)

Everything changed in a moment.

But don’t rush past the cross to get to the empty tomb.

Because what He endured there… matters.

That crown of thorns?
It wasn’t just placed, it was pressed down. (Matthew 27:29)

Not a circle… but covering, like a helmet of suffering. It makes me think about “the helmet of salvation”.
Every thorn piercing… a picture of the curse from the fall. (Genesis 3:18)

He didn’t just carry pain, carry ALL sin,
He carried the curse.

And those nails?

They weren’t placed in His palms like we often picture.
They were driven through His wrists, where bone could hold the weight.
It could’ve even been through his wrists up to his palms. Because crucifixion wasn’t just about death, it was about enduring it. They wanted him to suffer the maximum amount.

Hanging. Struggling to breathe.
Pushing up on pierced feet just to inhale.

Every breath… a choice to stay.
And He stayed.

Not because He had to,
but because love held Him there.

Why did He have to die this way?
Because sin isn’t small.

“Without shedding of blood is no remission.” (Hebrews 9:22)

Justice had to be satisfied.
Wrath had to be poured out.
The debt had to be paid, FULLY.

So Jesus became the substitute. FOR YOU & ME.
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree…” (1 Peter 2:24)

Not partially. Not temporarily.
Completely.

And when He rose,
it wasn’t just victory over death.

It was an invitation.
“…I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:” (John 11:25)

Because the same power that raised Him…
is the SAME power that lives in YOU when you RECEIVE Him.

Not when you strive. Not when you earn it.

But when you accept the FREE GIFT of salvation.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith…” (Ephesians 2:8)

So this isn’t just a story, a divine historical event.

It’s your access.
Your freedom.
Your new life. That brings ETERNAL LIFE.

The stone was rolled away,
not just from a tomb…
but from anything that once held you bound.

If the grave couldn’t hold Him… what in your life are you still living like hasn’t been set free?

And when you really sit with that…
when you let it move from something you know
to something you feel… it does something to your heart. It shifts you.

Because this wasn’t just sacrifice…
this was love…personal, intentional, overwhelming.

He saw you…
your sin, your struggle, your brokenness,
and He still chose the cross.

How do you respond to a love like that?

With praise that isn’t surface level.
With gratitude that runs deep.
With a heart that doesn’t just acknowledge Him…
but adores Him.

Oh…my heart, THANK YOU, JESUS!
for the cross, for the sacrifice, for the victory.
For loving me when I didn’t deserve it.
For paying a price I could never pay.

Let my life be a response to that love.
Not out of obligation…
but out of awe. 🥹♥️

From the Temple to the Tomb to Triumph🙏🏻🙌🏻

Every step Jesus took during Holy Week was soaked in purpose, love, and eternal promise.

From the moment He entered Jerusalem, He was on a mission not just to redeem the world…but to reach you and me.

He cleansed the temple to call us back to holiness. He confronted hypocrisy to awaken hearts.
He knelt in humility to show us how to love.
He carried the cross that was meant for us.

This week invites us to slow down and reflect, not just on what happened to Jesus, but what He did for us.
His journey was full of emotion…anger at injustice, grief over unbelief, love in service, and agony in surrender. But woven through it all was a fierce, unshakable commitment to obey the Father and rescue the ones He loved. That’s you.

It’s easy to rush past the pain and get straight to the resurrection…but if we skip the cross, we miss the cost.
If we skip the silence, we miss the stretching.
And if we forget the waiting, we overlook the wonder of the empty tomb.

This week is not just a timeline, it’s an invitation.

An invitation to trust God in your own Friday nights, your own silent Saturdays, and rejoice in your personal resurrection Sundays.

You are not forgotten in the waiting. You are NOT defeated by the crushing. Jesus didn’t just rise from the grave to give you a holiday, He rose to give you HOPE.

Hope that walks.
Hope that breathes.
Hope that changes everything.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, Thank You for walking the hard road for me. Help me to walk with You this week, not rushing past the pain, but sitting in the sacred places with You. Cleanse my heart like You cleansed the temple, remove what doesn’t belong. Remind me that even in silence, You are working. Give me the courage to serve like You, and the strength to surrender like You did. Let the truth of Your resurrection rise in my spirit each day, renewing me from the inside out. May I never lose the wonder of what You’ve done…for me, through me, and in me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Save this post and let it guide your reflections this week. One day, one truth, one step closer to resurrection living.

Teaching children about knowing and loving God has been crucial for His followers for thousands of years. Deuteronomy 6:5 is part of the Shema prayer of ancient Israel, written possibly even before Moses’ time, which commanded parents to teach their children the words of the Lord so they would not forget His ways:

“And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”

This is the key: Future generations need to be taught God’s character so they can know and love Him. That’s why I made it my mission to impart this knowledge to my children. How else can we truly know God if not through Scripture?

I began a journey of looking for innovative methods for my children to connect with the Bible, one of which was Bible journaling. This approach enabled them to merge their creativity with the words they read, ultimately treasuring Scripture in their hearts.

Now, I won’t pretend these moments of family worship and study were always picture-perfect.

Many times, I was redirecting attention, mediating between siblings, or just plain tired. On those hard days, I remembered my goal to teach my children to know and love God. And although there were days where I felt nothing went right, there were many days where their comments or responses blew my mind or brought tears to my eyes.

I am confident that the next generation in my family won’t forget the God of their parents — the Lord their God.

You and I play such an important role in the next generation’s faith. Your faithfulness in training up your children is not in vain, even when it looks that way in the present. You are planting seeds of knowledge and love of God. And I promise you that once your children know God, they can’t help but love God.

-Jessica Nicolas

What are some creative methods you’ve used to help your children connect to God’s Word?

I

"We love Him, because He first loved us" (1 John 4:19).

"God did not love us because we loved Him, but He loved us before we had a particle of love for Him. Had God loved us in return for ours, then it would not be spontaneous on His part; but because He loved us when we were loveless, it is clear that His love was uninfluenced.

It is highly important if God is to be honored and the heart of His child established, that we should be quite clear upon this precious truth. God’s love for me, and for each of "His own," was entirely unmoved by anything in them. What was there in me to attract the heart of God? Absolutely nothing. But, to the contrary, everything to repel Him, everything calculated to make Him loathe me—sinful, depraved, a mass of corruption, with "no good thing" in me.

"What was there in me that could merit esteem, Or give the Creator delight?
‘Twas even so, Father, I ever must sing,
Because it seemed good, in Thy sight."
