This past weekend was celebration of art and justice! On Friday we welcomed documentary photographer and writer, Asher Imtiaz for a powerful discussion on immigration and the doctrine of Imago Dei, and on Saturday we launched Fount, the First Christian literary journal at The University of Iowa! What a weekend!

Next Friday, November 14 at 7:00pm, author Daniel Nayeri will be visiting Iowa City!

Not only is he a well-known and award-winning writer, but he is also a person of faith. He will share about his book Everything Sad Is Untrue, which tells his powerful story of becoming a refugee—beginning with his mother’s brave decision to embrace Christianity in a country where it was a capital offense. His family’s journey takes them from a midnight escape from secret police, to refugee camps in Italy, and finally to asylum in the United States.

Filled with laughter, hope, and heartfelt storytelling, Daniel Nayeri’s talk will take place Friday at 7:00 PM in the IMU Richey Ballroom (3rd floor).

Tomorrow we restart our Field & Faith Forum with local entrepreneur, Ryan Miller at The Space at Old Brick (Clinton St. entrance). When Ryan took over the specialty egg company, , the brand was still a smaller regional brand. Fast forward 15 years, and Farmers Hen House became one of the biggest specialty egg companies in the country, ultimately selling to the largest specialty egg company, Pete & Gerry’s earlier this year.
