God our parent, As a new school year begins, fill students and teachers hearts with excitement and joy.

Help our students to walk into their classrooms with open minds and kind hearts. Give them the courage to be exactly who You created them to be. Let them share their unique gifts, celebrate their own talents, and never feel the need to hide their true selves.

Bless our teachers with patience, their minds with wisdom, and their days with laughter. May this year be a time of learning, growing, and deep happiness. Amen.

Hey friends! Did you know First Lutheran is part of the Adopt-A-Highway program?! Well we are! This is a brand new initiative from the church council! Thanks to Fred Wilson who helped us with all the details!

Our "section" is on hwy 71/11-- just across(ish) from the transfer station! Stay tuned for our fall clean up day--this is a great way to serve both the community and church and it will be fun! (yes cleaning can be fun). Hope you can help out--stay tuned for the date and time!

In the meantime go check out our sign! bonus if you get a selfie with it and send it to us at church! (or post in the comments below!)

Please join us in praying for the people of Nepal following catastrophic flash floods.

On 26 August, collapsing glacial ice and rock near the Nepal-China border unleashed a torrent of water, mud and debris through Himalayan valleys. Communities in the Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts are among the worst affected. Hundreds of people have died, many hundreds remain missing and homes, roads, bridges and places of worship have been destroyed or damaged. Rescue work continues amid the risk of further flooding.

The Anglican Church in Nepal has asked for urgent prayer, following reports that pastors and members of local churches are among those who have died or remain missing. Several churches have also been damaged.

Please pray for all those still unaccounted for, those who are grieving and families in urgent need of shelter, food, clean water and medicine. Pray also for pastors and church leaders serving devastated communities, and for all those leading rescue and relief efforts.

God of compassion,
draw near to the people of Nepal.
Comfort those who mourn,
protect those who remain in danger,
strengthen those searching for the missing
and sustain all who are serving their neighbours.
Bring help, healing and hope to every affected community.
Amen.
