August 2025 Press On! News
Greetings friends,
This summer has been so hot I just saw a hound dog chasing a rabbit--and they were both walking. In addition to hot, it was our busiest summer in a long time. As usual, we enjoyed visits from our kids and grandkids over the 4th of July. We are grateful for family members who know and love God. I wish we could slow down the inevitable aging adventure, but it does bring us closer to home.
I continue to produce radio broadcasts and am now preaching through Nehemiah. Thanks to the help of our son, Jeremiah, we have uploaded my broadcasts to podcast platforms: Apple, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Podbay. You can listen at your leisure to book studies and Christian growth topics. On our website, you can also find online five-minute audio devotionals from my new book Draw Swords which are now being aired by several radio stations. I have received some very encouraging comments from readers.
In August, Claudia spoke to ladies at the Flourish women’s conference on the campus of Marantha Baptist University in Watertown, WI. I preached to the enthusiastic folks of Fellowship Baptist in Watertown (Pastor Chad Prigge). After Watertown, we trekked to Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle in Indiana (Pastor David Zempel) to preach for a witnessing emphasis meeting. It was wonderful to renew acquaintances with folks we have known since Adam and Eve came over on the . . . whatever. God worked and we are grateful.
Many, many years ago I preached a revival meeting for a new church plant in Crossville, TN. Several weeks ago I was privileged to preach there again for the East Tennessee pastors’ fellowship. Cornerstone Baptist (Pastor Mike Kerley) is now a large soul-winning church with about 3.2 million missionaries and a worldwide Bible printing ministry. Claudia and I are always blessed when we visit there. There are still some churches that go for souls, sing “Victory in Jesus,” and see people talking to God at the altar.
We are now helping plant a new church in Crossville, TN. Fellowship Community Church (Pastor John Heiserman) started meeting in January. We are working toward an official Grand Opening in October. I lead the singing and Claudia plays the piano. I recently taught a weeknight Bible study (The Exchange) for Fellowship, and God blessed with a precious soul receiving Him! Please pray as we work toward the Grand Opening with mass mailing, teaching toward church membership, personal invitations, etc. We depend on your prayers to watch God plant this church.
Thank you for praying!
Press on!
