Yesterday, St Luke’s joined with 62 other sites around the state of Indiana to bear witness to the beloved human beings being held by ICE in deplorable conditions at Miami Correctional Facility. This vigil goes beyond politics. We stand on our Holy Scriptures, our United Methodist social principles, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and call on our governor to end immigrant detention at Miami Correctional Facility.

St. Luke's United Methodist Church was one of the groups to hold a protest. They said the Miami Correctional Facility is currently housing around 800 ICE detainees.

This Sunday, August 30, St. Luke's is standing with Hoosiers across Indiana to rise in a powerful, unified public witness to end the crisis of ICE detention at Miami Correctional Facility.

Indiana is currently holding approximately 800 immigrant men, the vast majority of whom have no criminal record, inside a state-run, maximum-security prison plagued by a staffing shortage, lack of medical care, and a tragic record of two detainee deaths earlier this year. Because Miami Correctional is a state-run facility, this injustice belongs to every Hoosier.

This work is in alignment with recent INUMC resolutions and with our social principles, and is supported by our governing board, United Women in Faith, and Social Justice committees.

Please join us in solidarity in front of our North Indy campus anytime between 10:15 AM - 12:15 PM, wearing a St. Luke's t-shirt if you have one. A short program will take place between 10:40-11:00 AM.

Fall is almost here, and we’re kicking off a new season of ministry at St. Luke’s!

Join us for Back to Church Kickoff on September 13 at North Indy and Midtown! After worship, stick around for live music, food, bounce houses, games, and fun for everybody.

Both campuses are also opening up new spaces that day! At Midtown, take a tour of the new youth space upstairs. At North Indy, celebrate the grand opening of our new Making Room classroom wing, including expanded space for Hub for Hope. Both campuses are invited to help us shower the Hub for Hope community with gifts by bringing a donation of baby wipes or new or gently used infant/toddler pajamas that day.

Come worship, stay for the fun, and find a place to get connected his fall! A whole new season of groups and classes will be kicking off that week, and there is room for YOU.
