How Can We Know the Truth? (Pt 3)
Pastor Rob Vance

2 Chronicles 18:28-34

We are supposed to knock down things that are not true.

Everybody believes in something, but is it true?

If people reject truth, disaster comes upon them.

Ahab thought he could outsmart the prophecy that he would be killed.

You cannot outwit or outsmart God.

There is a line that you must cross to be with God in heaven, and that line is Jesus.

Idolatry is untrue and will lead to ultimate ruin.

One of the burdens we bear is that we know what happens when people reject the Lord.

We should take Him at His word.

John 11:25-26--"I am the resurrection and the life." (Jesus)

When we believe the truth, we are forever blessed.

Pray for those who have rejected Him.

How Can We Know the Truth? (Pt 2)
Pastor Rob Vance

2 Chronicles 18:5-27

You can't just pick and choose what you believe about God. Instead, you need to accept Him as He reveals Himself to be.

Four hundred people were telling Ahab to go to war. These were not prophets of God.

Jehoshaphat asked for a prophet of God (Yahweh). He didn't want a "yes" man.

Ahab only wanted to hear what he wanted to hear.

Do we want truth because it's the truth (not just what we want to hear)?

Even though the prophets were all in agreement, and Micaiah was encouraged to agree with them, he would only say what God said.

When God says something about your behavior, beliefs, etc., you don't dismiss Him. You repent.

A deceptive evil spirit volunteers to do the job.

Satan came to kill, steal, and destroy. He wants to destroy God's creation and people.

God had tried to reach Ahab with the truth, but Ahab turned away.

Even then, God used Micaiah to urge Ahab to repent. But Ahab refuses to receive the truth.

Are you an Ahab or a Micaiah?

How do you respond to the truth?

Did God love Ahab? Yes, or else He wouldn't have sent a prophet to him.

2 Timothy 4:3-4--This is what Ahab was doing. There will always be someone who says something different than what the Bible says.

Will you listen to God's truth?

How Can We Know the Truth?
Pastor Rob Vance

2 Chronicles 18:1-4

Pilate asked Jesus, "What is the truth?" Jesus is the truth (John 14:6). And He came to earth to testify to the truth.

Knowing Jesus is all the truth you need.

The truth becomes foundational to your own soul. It brings joy to your own heart and you want to share it with others.

King Jehoshaphat was generally a good king, but he doesn't do things right all the time.

2 Chronicles 17:3--King Jehoshaphat was blessed by God. He was supposed to ally himself with God.

Yet now King Jehoshaphat seeks an alliance with King Ahab, who was not a godly king.

Everybody believes in something.

People say there are many roads to heaven, but we know there is only one way.

When King Ahab proposes they join together, King Jehoshaphat wanted to seek the counsel of the Lord first. We should do the same.

When you have a decision to make, go to God.

Everybody goes somewhere for wisdom. Don't rely on worldly wisdom; rely on God's.

Godly wisdom doesn't not come automatically; it takes years of watching, listening, and praying.

Some people, like Ahab, have a godless agenda, or they seek to go against them.

Our temptation today is to listen to the wrong people.

Christian Mothers Should Seek Help from God
Pastor Rob Vance

James 1:5

Moms should be salt and light--make Jesus attractive to others.

Seek help from God every day.

Moms need to have discernment.

James 1:5--to ask for wisdom, you have to have enough discernment to know you lack wisdom.

"You know what you don't know."

Discern, and then teach the kids.

Wisdom comes from God.

God won't look down on you when you ask for wisdom. He won't rebuke you.

Ephesians 5:6-10--Don't let anyone deceive you. Discern right from wrong. Many of the messages we receive today are empty words.

If you go against God, you won't be truly happy.

What are the children of disobedience teaching today? Speak light and life into those places.

What's at stake? The kids.

Call out unbiblical behavior.

Matthew 13:33

"How do I say it in a way that they'll listen?"

God will give you wisdom generously. He will help you!
