Concord Highland Baptist Church

Concord Highland Baptist Church Serving the Concord community since 1953. Our mission is to serve Jesus! Concord sits in the Hueytown / Bessemer area in West Jefferson County. W.C.

Concord Highland Baptist Church serves the Concord community in Jefferson County, Alabama. Concord Highland Baptist's first church service was on May 3, 1953 with Bro. Stone serving as the first pastor. On April 27, 2011 a nearly mile wide F5 tornado destroyed the original sanctuary, church buildings, pastorium, recreation center, church bus and many of the surrounding homes and businesses. The Ch

urch and the Concord community pulled together in faith and love to rebuild. On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2013, the first service was held in the new church sanctuary built across the street from the site of the previous church building. We are grateful to have a new sanctuary, but God's Church is not a building. It's a community of believers who gather together in worship, prayer, study and praise. Our church gathers each Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday evening. We also have Bible studies, gatherings and special events. We invite you to Join Us! SUNDAYS

Keep Will and his family in your prayers. God surround them with your peace and comfort only you can give.

Keep Will and his family in your prayers. God surround them with your peace and comfort only you can give.

I’m absolutely devastated at the news about Will Roberts.
It was the news that came my way late last night from Will’s mom Brittney.

For over 18 months, 15-year-old Will Roberts has fought bone cancer like a warrior.
He’s in California, hospitalized at a San Diego Children’s hospital being treated for numerous issues.

You and I and millions of others have prayed for Will.
We’ve stepped up big time, sending our love and compassion to Will’s parents Jason and Brittney, his sister Charlie and his grandma.

Late last night, Brittney Roberts offered an update on her son and it broke my heart.

I hope you can pray for Will as you read Brittney’s update:

“Today (Friday) has been the hardest day of this journey.
It was the day the doctors sat us down and told us that based on what they are seeing right now, we should prepare ourselves that Will may only have a day or two left on this Earth.

“I’ll be honest… it took the breath out of me, but I also know this: Our God has the final say.

“Not statistics.
Not timelines.
Not medicine.
Just God.

“I broke today.
My mind went places it shouldn’t have.
I caught myself playing out the “what ifs” over and over until I finally had enough.
I had to tell the devil to get out of my head because those thoughts are not where my hope comes from.

“Jason and I went for a walk just to get away for a few minutes.
Somehow we ended up at the parking deck and opened the car door.
Sitting there was Will’s prosthetic with his little Croc still on it.

“I absolutely lost it.
Jason did too.
Not because we believe that’s what is going to happen… but because, for just a moment, our minds went to the ‘what if?’.

“What if one day we have to leave this hospital and that prosthetic is all that’s sitting in the back seat? What if we have to walk into our house and everywhere we look reminds us of what used to be?

“Those thoughts broke me.

“Jason looked at me and said, ‘Come sit with me. Let’s pray.’

“I knew it was going to be one of his ‘Straight to God’ prayers.
This is the man who holds our family together, leads our home, has picked me up from a puddle of tears more times than I can count, and who has prayed us through storm after storm, and by God’s grace, we keep getting back up.

“We don’t know what tomorrow holds. We know what we’ve been told, but we also know the One who holds tomorrow.

“Please don’t stop praying.
Pray for Will.
Pray for the doctors.
Pray for our family.
And pray for the unimaginable, because our God is still in the miracle working business.

“We are believing with everything we have that He can write a different ending than the one we’ve been given today.”

I hope we can all take a moment to pray for Will and his sweet family.

I hope we can send Brittney’s thoughts around the world so we can pray in numbers.

May our support give the Roberts family strength.

May our support bring Will comfort.

May the Roberts family be blessed with a miracle.
