Why Die?

God once appointed Ezekiel as a watchman—someone called to listen carefully to God’s Word and then speak it to others. This Sunday we’ll hear God’s urgent, grace-filled question: “Why die?” and discover the life he gives us in Christ. We'll be in Ezekiel 33:7-11.

Lord's Supper

Also on Sunday we will celebrate the Lord's Supper. Scripture admonishes us all to examine ourselves before we join together in the Sacrament. Luther's catechism includes a guide to that spiritual self examination. Bible Class: Grace

We talk about "grace" all the time at church. We also hear it other places: an athlete might be "graceful." We "say grace" before a meal. What does the word mean when the Bible uses it? In today's Bible class we look at this important word and how it impacts us.

Our after worship Bible class will be an "open" topic. We'll talk about whatever Bible-related questions or topics you would like to discuss. Called to Confidence

The past can haunt us, the present can overwhelm us, and the future can frighten us. But Romans 8 assures us that God has been at work, God is for us now, and nothing in all creation can separate us from his love in Christ. This Sunday we'll be in Romans 8:28-39.

An Honest Conversation

According to a Gallup survey (March 2024), almost a quarter (22.3%) of Gen Z identify as something other than heterosexual. The growth of the LGBTQ+ community in American culture has coincided with a heightened acceptance of non-heterosexual orientations. How do we as Christians in this culture speak the truth in love in the face of this level of societal change? For six Sundays in our after worship Bible study we will consider that question. The target audience for this video based Bible study is teens and young adults, but Christians of all ages will benefit. This Sunday: How is being single an opportunity?

Opportunities to Serve

As a community of believers, we want to work together to glorify God through the ministry of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Getting involved in the church helps us all to grow in relationships with one another and fosters a sense of ownership in the congregation. Starting in September, we will be implementing a schedule of church cleaning and ushering that involves all the families of Emmanuel. If we all take turns with these tasks, no family or individual will carry an excessive load. These tasks are not only practical—they're opportunities to serve alongside one another, build friendships, and put our faith into action in love. When everyone contributes a little, no one carries too much, and together we strengthen the fellowship God has created among us in Christ. We'll be talking this plan up at church. Quarterly Meeting

Our third quarterly meeting will be Sunday after the worship service. There are lots of opportunities ahead of us as part of God's Kingdom. Stay after the service and get involved.

National Night Out is Tuesday, August 4. As last year, Emmanuel will have a table and we'll pass out water at Lakefront Park. The event runs from 5:00-9:00 p.m. If you would like to help set up we plan to be there by 4:00. Or just stop by the table to meet your neighbors and hang out with your Emmanuel family.
