Operation Christmas Child is right around the corner!

Pick up your shoebox on November 1st and return your filled box on November 8th or 15th.

Let’s come together to share the love of Jesus and bless children around the world. Every box is an opportunity to remind a child that they are loved and seen by Him.

Let’s make a difference, one shoebox at a time!

Meet Reece

Sometimes, saying yes to serving is as simple as following a little nudge from God—and discovering something you never knew you needed.

Reece came back to New River earlier this year and started serving in Kids Ministry, first in the newborn room and later with Kindergarteners. What started as a willingness to try something new, quickly became something she loves.

“I love getting to help teach these kids about God, and seeing the joy of the Lord shine through them!”

For Reece, serving has become a place where God is teaching her patience, wisdom, and empathy—and giving her “such a big heart for these kids.”

One moment she’ll never forget was serving at VBS and watching the Kindergarteners sing and worship in their tiny voices. It was a simple moment, but one that captured exactly why she keeps saying yes.

And to anyone who feels nervous about serving, Reece has some encouragement: “You will never regret it.” Her own nerves disappeared the moment she met the kids and the other volunteers, and she found a community filled with joy.

Reece, thank you for saying yes and for pouring into the next generation with so much joy. We’re so grateful you’re part of the New River family!

Meet Gina

For Gina, serving is about showing up with open hands and a willing heart—and trusting God to do what only He can do.

“I started serving because I’ve always loved working with kids, and I wanted to be part of creating a safe, fun place for them to meet Jesus.”

As a mom, seeing the joy her own son finds at church made Gina want to help create that same sense of peace and joy for other families. And over her years serving in Kids Ministry, God has taught her that ministry isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.

“God is faithful in the small, ordinary moments. He uses my imperfect efforts to show love to kids and families.”

One moment that has stayed with Gina was watching a group of kids faithfully pray week after week for children in Kenya. Their sincere prayers reminded her just how naturally children can understand the heart of God—and how big His love really is.

Gina also wants anyone nervous about serving to know something important: “You don’t have to be perfect to serve, you just have to be willing.” You won’t be thrown in alone. You’ll find people who help, encourage, and grow alongside you.

Gina, thank you for bringing your willing heart, your love for kids, and your faithfulness to the next generation. We’re so grateful for the little family you’ve found—and helped build—through serving.

Today, we honor the pastors who have said YES to the call. 🤍

To the ones who preach the Word, shepherd the hurting, disciple the next generation, lead us in worship, build community, strengthen families, and continually point us back to Jesus — thank you.

We are better because you lead.
Our church is stronger because you serve.

We love you, we honor you, and we thank God for the way you faithfully shepherd our church. 💙

Meet Ricky

For Ricky, serving isn’t just something we do—it’s part of who we’re called to be.

“I always felt called to teaching, and I saw a need when Sarah came on stage right after I’d asked God to show me where to serve.”

Since then, Ricky has found his place in Kids Ministry, where he gets to teach, build community, and pour into the next generation. And why does he keep saying yes?

“God keeps saying yes, so I do as well.”

Serving has taught Ricky that God deeply values community and His people. It’s also given him the accountability to stay consistent in growing his relationship with God and with the church. As he puts it, “Church doesn’t stop at the pews.”

One of the moments that has stayed with him most was serving at REV and seeing the kids worship. Watching them encounter God reminded Ricky of the impact that comes from simply being obedient to the call to serve.

To anyone who feels nervous, Ricky has a simple reminder: “You don’t have to be nervous with family.” Serving is a place to truly connect with the people of your church.

Ricky, thank you for answering God’s call and faithfully saying yes. We’re grateful for the way you teach, lead, and invest in the next generation.
