Sparrowheart Gathering

Sparrowheart Gathering A Gathering within the Ravenspell Tradition. Comments, questions or concerns? Email us at: [email protected] She initiated High Priestess in 2011.

We are building a local gathering of a Colorado Springs clan in the Hudson Oaks area. Our gathering is called the Sparrowheart gathering of the Ravenspell Clan. Some of the functions we will be providing will be formal teaching, workshops and semi-public sabbats. Our tradition is very eclectic, combining Egyptian, Celtic, Greek, Faerie and English Hedgewitchery. We focus on teaching the duality of

deity, magick, ritual, and ancestral honoring. The gathering heads (that is the teachers and high priestess and priest) are Keira and Bodb Ravenspell. We are most interested in working with adults. If you are interested, at any time, please send me (Bodb) an email :D We look forward to hearing from you! Sparrowheart Gathering:
The Sparrowheart Gathering is a branch of the Colorado Springs based Ravenspell Gathering. The Ravenspell Gathering has been teaching witchcraft since 1999 and the Sparrowheart Gathering is the first branch since its inception. We hope to uphold the high quality of education and spirit of community the Ravenspell Gathering inspired. Keira Ravenspell:
Joined the Ravenspell Gathering in 2009. Her favorite magickal studies are in animal magick, crafting magickal tools and divination. Her strongest divination tool is tea leaf reading otherwise known as tassomancy. For the Sparrowheart Gathering she hopes to pass on the mysteries of the goddess and the strength and wisdom that she has learned from the god. Bodb Ravenspell:
Joined the Ravenspell Gathering in 2007 and initiated as a High Priest in 2014. His favorite subjects are ancestor work, tool crafting and sabbat/esbat writing. He also enjoys divination, playing drums and magickal philosophy.

Made corn dollies with the girls this Imbolc!

Merry Lughnasadh, Happy Lammas, Hail He of many names, the Horned God and God of the Witches! This week marks the first of three harvests celebrated in times long past. Traditionally, witches bake bread, make corn dollies or wheat weavings and tell stories.

The energies of this time of year are those of return. Return of hard work as reaped benefits. Return of sown ideas coming to fruition. This the first harvest marks the sacrifice of the Lord of the Sun causing the return of cooler weather and longer nights. This is when the Lord of the Morning Star transitions to the Lord of the Dead reclaiming his role as psychopomp, wise Father and Leader of the Wild Hunt. Hail to Him, God of the Dead!

We celebrated our Ostara a little late, but here it is. We will be placing the rocks around our public parks for people to find. Weatherford has a community rock thing going on, so people seem to be on the lookout for them.

I am so excited. I finished my talisman that I charged during my full moon ritual!! It took me a couple days because I have trouble with my hand going numb, but a lot of wonderful energy went into this piece and it is totally worth it!

May your moon rites be blessed! I feel that I have reconnect with something I have been missing lately and I feel a little bit closer to feeling whole again. Blessed be She of many names. I will always remember.

So, what's in a feast? Generally when putting together a feast for the wheel of the year celebrations you will want to stick to seasonal foods. Here is what I am making: garlic cheese mashed potatoes, roasted broccoli and Brussel sprouts, bacon cheddar scones, roasted chicken, lemon poppy seed cake and mead for the adults and sparkling juice for the littles. What are you, or did you make?

As we get ready to celebrate Imbolc today we think of all the new growth in the belly of the earth, of the new babies being born among the sheep and other animals as spring is on it's way. We think of the blessings of Brighit and make our candles for the year (yes, we still do this. It's tradition and it wields great energy to carry through the year in all of your rituals). We think of our intentions for the coming year and we write them down. We then focus on that energy and intent and plant it so it can grow. This is something we do every year. This year we are planting herbs that we can continue to use in our kitchen magick throughout the year to give our intent an extra boost. We tell our children the stories of Imbolc and then we drum and dance and feast!!!! May you have a blessed and bright Imbolc!!

Yule is a special time of year for us. It is when the sun god is born bringing hope for the coming year, bringing light into our lives, homes and magick. We will be celebrating Yule tomorrow as a family. We favor drumming and lighting candles at dawn bringing the light into our home. We continue to celebrate throughout the day with food and fellowship. We are blessed this year to dip our toes into the Norse tradition a bit as we celebrate with others in Arlington on the 23rd with a big fire, stories, toasts, a big feast and more fellowship!! I can't wait! It will be a fun couple of days. We hope that everyone has a blessed Yule and carries the light and hope of the sun lord with you through the beginning of the year!
