During the first year of Mosaic, I tried to be involved in Pearland stuff as much as possible.
We even paid the $600 yearly fee for membership to the Chamber of Commerce.
My first luncheon with the Commerce, the MC introduced a candidate running for office. They were clearly friends. And the MC gave him a whole lot of praise.
Then someone from the crowd mentioned that his opponent (a person of color) is also in attendance. and the MC basically said, "Yea, cool. He's here, too."
I wish we could've canceled and gotten our $600 back.
Idk if it's still the good 'ol boys club over there in Commerce.
But membership fee is too high to see if anything's changed.
And if you can't see why that's a problem for folks like me,
then I'm sorry to say that you're contributing to the problem more than solving it.
