Evangel Community Church

Evangel Community Church Sundays: In-person at 9:30 & 11:00 and on Facebook Live at 9:30 At Evangel we want to be a place of extraordinary kindness, grace, and humility.

When you visit our community, we hope you feel welcomed and accepted among us. You matter to us, and we are thankful for the chance to get to know you better. Our prayer is that you find our church to be a safe and inviting place where you can share your story and move with us toward Jesus, regardless of your background.

Are you missing chapter 2? Naomi was. Sometimes our logic is perfect, but we're missing the bigger picture! 🤔 Naomi had all the facts right, but she couldn't see what God was doing behind the scenes. Don't let incomplete information lead to wrong conclusions about God's plan for your life! ✨

SUNDAY WORSHIP
IN-PERSON SERVICES: 9:30 & 11:00AM
FACEBOOK LIVE & YOUTUBE: 9:30AM

THIS WEEK:
Pastor Levi Matteson
Sunburn: The Bitterest Prayer
Ruth 1:6-14

You know how it goes. You're out in the sun -- laughing, living, not thinking about anything except how good the day is. Then you go inside. And the pain hits. You didn't feel it happening. You were having too good a time. But the sun was doing its work the whole time. Some of life's hardest seasons are exactly like that. Things were fine. And then you went inside. And suddenly you couldn't ignore what the heat had already done. This summer we're walking through the book of Ruth -- the story of a woman who got burned by life and had to figure out what to do with the damage. If you've ever been blindsided by something you didn't see coming, this is for you. Because here's the thing about a sunburn: you don't heal it by going back outside. Healing finds you when you finally are covered up.

God is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love - and that truth isn't dependent on what you're going through right now. His character remains constant even when our understanding falls short. đź’•

💡 Mind-blowing truth: The serpent's lie wasn't 'you'll know good and evil'—it was 'YOU get to decide what's good and evil.' That throne belongs to God alone. Are you trying to play God in your own life?

SUNDAY WORSHIP
IN-PERSON SERVICES: 9:30 & 11:00AM
FACEBOOK LIVE & YOUTUBE: 9:30AM

THIS WEEK:
Pastor Levi Matteson
Armed: The Sword of the Spirit
Ephesians 6:10-18

Most of us picture evil as obvious—dark, loud, and easy to spot. But Scripture says Satan’s most effective move isn’t always open darkness… it’s counterfeit light. Something that looks close enough to the real thing to fool you: truth that’s almost true, righteousness that’s really self-righteous, compassion that refuses holiness, freedom that becomes bo***ge, spirituality that feels bright but pulls you away from Christ.

That’s why Paul doesn’t tell the church to “try harder.” He says: “Be strong in the Lord… put on the whole armor of God… stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Eph. 6:10–11)

In this series, we’re walking straight through Ephesians 6:10–18 to learn how to:
recognize the enemy’s schemes before they own you
discern the difference between the real thing and a religious counterfeit
stop fighting the wrong battles (and the wrong people)
stand firm with God’s armor: truth, righteousness, readiness, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer

This isn’t sensational or spooky. It’s sober, biblical, and practical—for anyone who feels worn down, distracted, numb, anxious, tempted, or stuck.

Invite a friend. If they’ve ever said, “Something feels off… and I can’t explain it,” this series will help them see the battle, and find strength to stand.

The Decision That Will Outlast You
I Samuel 1, I Timothy 1, and Mark 10

THIS WEEK:
Pastor Levi Matteson

What if the most significant thing you ever do doesn't happen on a stage, in a boardroom, or online — but inside your home? This Mother's Day, we're looking at three women from Scripture — Hannah, Lois, and Eunice — whose quiet, costly decisions to orient their lives around the next generation echoed through history and into the Bible itself. Whether you're a mother, a father, a grandparent, or simply someone who pours into the lives of children, this message is for you. Because the decision to give yourself to the next generation is the decision that outlasts you.
