This summer, fires broke out in our beloved Columbia River Gorge community. Due to the high winds that make this area a destination for so many athletes, the situation quickly devolved into a nightmare. When all was said and done, dozens of homes were lost, and our neighbors were reeling.
Immanuel put out a call to donate to help those affected. Now, we know there are plenty of organizations that are working in the area of relief, but frequently they get stuck behind bureaucracy and red tape. But, as a church, we are mobile enough to find individuals and families and offer them help directly.
Yesterday, Pastor Tyler joined with Nancy Waller, our head deacon, and John Weting, our congregational president, to share Immanuel's generosity with some folks in need. We were able to give them each a check to help pay bills, as well as some local gifts to make their holidays a little brighter.
We were able to let these folks share their stories, mourn what has been lost, and share in some hope of what will be rebuilt. In our prayers together, we prayed that God would be at work in their lives, and that His presence would bring peace.
Thank you to everyone who donated! If you see this and want to keep this going, the Rowena Fire Relief tab is still active on our website. Every single penny given in that designation will go directly to people affected. And if you know of others who need help, please let Pastor Tyler know!
Merry Christmas, and thank you for helping to Bring God With Us Into The World!
