Special release at this Saturday’s 13th Annual Mō’ili’ili Summer Fest! Visit the Mō’ili’ili Hongwanji Retail Booth at 4:00PM. Limited items and quantities available.

🏮 Bon Dance season is right around the corner! Save the dates and join us on June 4, June 11, June 18 (All Thursdays) for Bon Dance Practice at Mō‘ili‘ili Hongwanji Mission (902 University Ave.), in the social hall from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Our retail pop-up opens at 6:00pm. Limited parking on premises so come early!

Brush up on those dance moves. First timers are welcomed too. Free & open to the public. Purchase Bon Dance merchandise and get ready for the season!

Proceeds from this event will go towards medical and travel expenses to support Arlyne and the Takiue ohana. The Takiue family has been influential and dedicated sangha members here at our temple. ♥️

✨Looking for something to do tomorrow? Come check out the Buddhist Study Center Hawaii's Spring Festival - Sat. April 18 from 9:30am to 2:00pm, near UH Mānoa.

The theme is “Appreciating Our Ohana,” with intergenerational workshops, local favorite snacks, appreciation activities, “old school” games, and much more.

🅿️Parking available at the UH Mānoa Lower Campus parking structure

Happy Belated Hanamatsuri (Buddha Day)! This past Sunday, we had our Hanamatsuri Service. Did you know, when pouring sweet tea over the Buddha statue, most temples use Lipton tea nowdays. However, here at Mō’ili’ili Hongwanji, we use Starbucks tea since our resident minister is a Starbucks fanatic!

Tomorrow’s offertory collection will be donated to Kahului Hongwanji Mission Preschool as they were recently affected by the Kona Low Storm.

Join us for Buddha Day Service sponsored by the Hawaii Buddhist Council this Sunday, April 5, 2026 at 9:30AM. The service will be held in person at Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin (1727 Pali Highway) or via Youtube if you prefer to tune in from the comfort of your home. The guest speaker will be Dr. George Tanabe, retired professor of Japanese Religions at the University of Hawaii and currently the President of BDK Hawaii and BDK America. See flyer for more details.

For one extraordinary evening, more than 10,000 kamaʻāina and visitors gather to celebrate culture, cuisine, and community in one of Honolulu’s most historic neighborhoods. Each year, thousands of guests dance in Honolulu's largest Japanese Bon Dance of the season, enjoy delicious foods and visit a rich array of area retailers and artisans. There’s something for everyone from keiki to kūpuna!

Mōʻiliʻili Summer Fest is presented by Mōʻiliʻili Festivals, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, with support from Kamehameha Schools, Waiānuenue and community partners including the Moiliili Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i, the Moiliili Community Center, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
