September 6th is Laity Sunday! (That's typically when lay leaders, as opposed to clergy, lead us in worship.)

We'll get to hear a message from Brody McMurtry, Church Council Chair-elect.

Brody is CEO of Good Current, a solar development & finance company located in Hawai‘i. Earlier in his career, he practiced law, worked at a solar technology startup, and did projects in Zambia, Uganda, and Japan. This year Brody marks 10 years at Central Union with his wife and now their two children!

Come worship with us on Sunday as we celebrate that every one of our members is a minister!

WORSHIP SERVICES
7 AM - Atherton Memorial Chapel
9 AM - Sanctuary (https://www.youtube.com//streams)

🇳🇵 Pray for Nepal
Devastating floods in Nepal have claimed hundreds of lives, left many missing, and displaced families across affected communities. Global Ministries is in communication with our partner in Nepal and preparing to respond to urgent needs as aid can safely reach those affected.

Our partner shared, “At this critical moment, we would greatly appreciate your prayers for Nepal.”

Please join us in praying for those who have lost loved ones, those still missing, displaced families, rescue workers, and our partners working to bring help and hope.

It's September, which means it's time to Give Aloha at Foodland!

During the month of September, you can go to any Foodland cash register to make a donation with cash/check/card naming Central Union Church #78511 or Central Union Preschool #78270 as the recipient. Foodland will match a portion of each gift made by enrolled Maika‘i members (free to join at any Foodland)!

Through Foodland's Annual Community Matching Gifts Program, Give Aloha, you can donate any amount, up to a total of $249 (per person, per participating organization) and your chosen organization will get even more in return.

Please consider paying any part of your pledge/offering, or make an extra donation, through Give Aloha this September – and make your money go further!

Submit your receipt to the Church Office by mail or in the offering plate to get credit on your giving statement.

The ongoing debate: pineapple on pizza 🍍🍕 We don’t wanna cause any division… but what side are you on? Give us your take!

At our Messy Church gathering, we made personal pizzas for dinner, so we just had to ask. What do you think? 👍👎

The world measures success by power and prestige. God measures success by surrender and love. Let’s step away from the wisdom of the world. Let’s loosen our grip, open our hands, open our hearts. Let’s practice the quiet, courageous work of placing our entire lives and our church in the hands of God. And let’s give, serve, and love until it feels incredibly good. Because exactly where our treasure is, there our hearts will be also.

From Pastor Rushan’s message “Open Hearts, Open Hands” (August 23), fifth in our five-part stewardship sermon series “There Our Hearts Will Be”.

Worship with us on Sundays at 7 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM! View the live stream and full sermon on YouTube .
