Congratulations Chris!

Homer-Center's Chris Morgan has been selected as the 1st Place recipient by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) District 26, Voice of Democracy competition committee. Chris' audio essay was selected from several entries throughout VFW District 26, where each contestant responded to the prompt, “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support For Our Country?” As the first place recipient, Chris will represent VFW District 26 at the state competition held in early 2026 during the VFW State Convention.

The Voice of Democracy contest is a national patriotic audio essay competition that is open to any student in grades 9-12. This national competition begins with local VFW district competitions, district winners competing at the VFW state competition, with the state winner advancing to the VFW national competition.

Since 1947, the Voice of Democracy has been the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW’s) premier scholarship program. Each year, nearly 26,000 high school students compete for more than $2 million in scholarships and incentives.

Congratulations Chris for being the VFW District 26 Voice of Democracy Champion. Good luck at the VFW Voice of Democracy State Competition.
