Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Gathering around the Lord’s word and altar for holy Mass, our parish seeks the face of God who loves us tremendously and created us in his image & likeness

Thank you for taking a few moments to visit the page of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Parish with worship sites in both Lucernemines and Coral, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Whether one has lived in our beautiful region their entire life, or is simply traveling through via an area highway, our parish has two beautiful church buildings wherein we both worship God and nourish th

e soul. Gathering around the Lord’s word and altar for holy Mass, our parish family seeks the face of God who loves us tremendously and created us in his image and likeness. The first woman doctor of the church, St. Teresa of Avila, once wrote “May God protect me from gloomy saints” and “Since Christ has so few friends, let us be good ones.”

It is in that spirit of Christian discipleship that we at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish seek to be good friends of God and radiate his joy to all the world. Again welcome to our website and thank you for sharing a few minutes of your time with us.

The Diocese of Greensburg is sharing advance guidance regarding the significant winter storm forecasted to impact our region this weekend. Bishop Larry J. Kulick has dispensed the faithful of the Diocese of Greensburg from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass for the weekend of January 24 and 25, 2026.

At this point, looking at the storm predictions, it appears that most Saturday evening Masses will still be able to occur, if that is an option for you. Additionally, many parishes do live stream their Mass for remote viewing.

Since the obligation to attend has been dispensed, and due to the different geographic circumstances of each parish, parishes are being asked to communicate locally regarding any Mass schedule changes. Please check with your local parish regarding any change in Mass times for Saturday evening and Sunday morning and evening on January 24 and 25, 2026.

Those who are able to do so safely may consider attending a Saturday Vigil Mass. Those who are unable to attend Mass should sanctify the Lord’s Day through prayer, reading the Scriptures, participating in a livestreamed or televised Mass, and spiritual communion.
All are asked to exercise prudence and follow state and local emergency guidance as conditions develop. Bishop Kulick also asks the faithful to check in on your neighbors during the storm, particularly the elderly, those who live alone, and anyone who may need assistance.

We are grateful to our clergy and parish leaders for their continued pastoral care and dedication to the safety of our Diocesan family.
