Pastor's Post
Dear People
What a great vacation Fran and I had! Two weeks ago this past Thursday, we drove with our Kearney kids to Pinedale, Wyoming, about an hour southeast of Jackson. The next day we saw the Tetons, and limited ourselves to just a few selected sites in Yellowstone. Even so, we didn’t make it to our hotel in Bozeman, Montana until 11:30 that night. We were exhausted! Especially for a couple of old people that usually start making our way to bed around 9. Interestingly, the last time we were in Jackson and Yellowstone was with Whitney and Elliot and their first new little one, four month old James Elliot. Now 18 years, and ten more children later we were there again right before James graduated from High School. It felt like the circle had been completed. And that was the reason for the trip, James’ graduation from Logos Online School based out of Moscow, Idaho where the graduation ceremony was held. We got there on that Saturday evening, enjoyed worshiping at Christ Church on Sunday morning, and then attending the school’s picnic on Sunday afternoon. The next day, Monday, was James’ Graduation, a very nice and honoring ceremony. Following the graduation was the reception, and then that evening was a line dance at the fairgrounds there at Moscow. What an event! There must have been 400 people line/folk/square dancing, whatever you call it. But most of all I would call it fun! The next day, Tuesday, we all headed up to Spokane, Washington to hang out with a couple of Fran’s sisters and their families for a great time of reunion and relaxation for the remainder of our time. I feel like concluding this section with, “Well that’s the news from Lake Wobegon.” This may be way more information than you wanted, but a good time was had by all, and it was very relaxing, and . . . especially great to hang out with our grandkids and kids. Well . . . with most of them anyway (just kidding).
It was great to get away, and it’s great to be back. Tomorrow, we resume our series, The Gospel Of John – That You May Believe with a very familiar passage. The message title, “You Must Be Born Again” should give you a clue. That passage, of course, is John 3, specifically verses 1-13. We’ll be looking at the fact that if we want to go to Heaven, we must be born again. After being gone for two Sundays, it will be so good to see you all. I’m looking forward to it!
On another note, to catch you all up on Fran. All systems are go, and she will have her surgery implanting the gold radiation rings on her right eye on Friday, July 10, and then having them removed on Tuesday, July 14 with our follow up appointment the next day. This will take place at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Please pray for the eradication of cancer both now and any in the future and that her eye and eyesight will not be damaged or diminished.
Rested And Resting In Jesus
