From my sermon today:
We find in Jesus teaching some common themes surrounding forgiveness.
1. It is not optional. If we are to live as a Christian Then forgiveness has to be real, sincere and a part of our relationship with those we come in contact with.

2. Forgiveness is limitless. We are ask to set no number on the number of times we are ask to forgive.
3. Forgiveness replaces a desire for vengeance. Forgiveness must be full and complete. It leaves no room to hold to a spirit of retaliation or a desire to get even.
4. Forgiveness does not condone the bad behavior done. It is not a allowing the individual to escape consequences. No in this world and in eternity individuals still must face up the punishment due them for their sin. Forgiveness IS NOT pretending the offense never happen.
