You don’t have to carry someone else’s calling to be faithful to yours.

Comparison has a way of making us either proud of what God has given us or disappointed by what He hasn’t. But neither response is faithfulness. God has intentionally placed each of us in His body, given us different gifts, and entrusted us with different assignments.

Our responsibility isn’t to ask, “Why do they get to do that?”
It is to ask, “Lord, am I being faithful with what You have given me?”

Jesus’ words to Peter are wonderfully freeing:

“What is that to you? You follow me!” — John 21:22

You don’t need someone else’s platform, gifting, recognition, opportunity, or assignment.

You need grace to faithfully follow Jesus in yours.

And there is tremendous freedom when we stop measuring our calling against someone else’s and simply say, “Lord, whatever You have given me to do, I want to do it faithfully and for Your glory.”

This post was on a site dealing with emotional intelligence and family dynamics. I would challenge us to consider this from a different perspective. When you consider Jesus, do you "need" Him or do you "love" Him?

Many people come to Christ because they need Him for salvation and they stay connected to the extent that they need/want things from Him. Do we actually love Him for Who He is without any of the blessings He provides? Who is Jesus to you and where are you in your relationship with Him?

This Sunday at Sequoyah, we will gather around a simple but searching truth:

The Lord’s Table does more than help us remember what Christ has done—it proclaims His death until He comes.

As we continue our series, "Marks of a Disciple", we’ll consider the call to "Share". We do not need polished arguments or perfect words. We are simply called to be witnesses—ordinary believers empowered by the Holy Spirit to tell others what Jesus has done for us.

We will also observe the Lord’s Supper and place Stones of Remembrance in loving memory of Bob King and Paul Wooten —two men whose lives helped show us Christ.

Join us this Sunday, August 30, as we remember, proclaim, and recommit ourselves to living as His witnesses.

“I’m not going to explain God to you today—I’m just going to tell you what He’s already done for me.”

How many people have we quietly decided are too different from us to reach?

Most of us would never say that out loud.

But somewhere between different backgrounds, generations, politics, and ways of life… we stopped crossing the distance.

This week in Deep Roots, we’ll follow Paul into Athens and learn how to enter another person’s world without compromising the truth of the gospel.

God has placed people near us who may think, speak, and live nothing like us. The distance between us is not an obstacle. It is a mission field.

If you want to share Christ with greater wisdom, compassion, and courage, this lesson is for you.

What if the most Christlike thing you do this week is something nobody ever notices?

We tend to measure service by what can be seen — the position, the platform, the result.

But roots grow differently.

They grow beneath the surface… quietly doing the work that eventually supports everything others can see.

This Sunday, we’re talking about what Jesus meant when He redefined greatness as service — serving unto Him, with Him, and by His measure rather than ours.

Maybe faithfulness matters more than being noticed.

Come. Root. Serve. Grow.

How many strangers do you pass without ever wondering what God may already be doing in their lives?

We cannot speak to everyone.

But sometimes… the real struggle is not courage. It is attentiveness.

This Wednesday, we will follow Philip down a desert road and watch him listen before speaking, ask before telling, and trust God with the outcome.

The person in front of you is not a blank slate. God already knows their whole story. He may simply be asking you for one moment of attention.
