On March 1, we held our first Preschool Sunday Service. It was a wonderful opportunity for Preschool ʻOhana to come together for the service. During the service, we recognized the important contribution our Hilo Hongwanji Preschool is to our temple and community.
We are proud of the role our Preschool has played in nurturing our sangha and community's keiki to be well-rounded and productive individuals. We look forward to continuing this Sunday Service together and also showing our appreciation for our Preschool, especially our dedicated teachers.

The Big Island Buddhist Federation (BIBF) recently held an installation ceremony for its new officers at Hilo Higashi Hongwanji on December 13, 2025.

Next year, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin will serve as the host temple. Newly appointed officers Dean Kubo (President), Ivan Nakano (Treasurer), and Susan Nakatsu (Secretary) from Hilo Betsuin attended the ceremony together with Rimban Kazunori Takahashi.

The Federation brings together temples on the east side of Hawaii Island from different Buddhist denominations, working together through shared activities such as the Hanamatsuri Service in April and the Bodhi Day Service in December. We look forward to continuing this collaboration with many people in the coming year.
