Hope Lutheran Youth New Mexico Servant Trip
Tuesday, June 16th
Hope’s Youth began the last full day in Angel Fire at Firewood Angels.
This organization runs a “wood bank” to provide needed firewood through the long winters up here in the mountains to people with limited finances. Our group pitched in with regular local volunteers to cutdown, split and move a lot of firewood.
After a quick lunch, the youth headed to the
New Mexico Vietnam Veterans Memorial here in Angel Fire. The group worked to wash windows, help prepare flags for retirement, and wash down the museum’s scale replica of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC.
After a speedy cleanup, we went up on top of the mountain with Pastor Ben and his wife Rachel. Ben is a full time rancher of cattle, while serving as pastor of congregations in Angel Fire, Taos, and Springer.
The evening was concluded with thanking our wonderful hosts, Tom and Rosie Fisher, before evening devotions.
We appreciate your prayers as we begin our journey back on Wednesday.
