Pentecost Sunday is this coming Sunday and is among the principal celebrations of the 2026 liturgical year, following Easter Sunday and the Ascension of the lord last week.

Pentecost is not simply the end of Easter. It’s the day the Church celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the first disciples of Jesus gathered in Jerusalem. It is the moment when the fearful followers of Jesus were strengthened to proclaim the gospel boldly to the world.
