It’s 11:26 p.m. The house is finally quiet except for the soft music playing in the background. Little Henry is bundled up and sleeping peacefully. My Bible, journal, and pen sit in front of me.
I look forward to this time each evening more than I can explain.
During the day, there are a thousand thoughts running through my mind. With seven little ones, life can feel beautifully chaotic. But at night — after the kids are in bed and Chad and I have to catch up, share our highs and lows of the day, and connect as a couple — this becomes my time with Jesus. It’s uninterrupted. It’s my spiritual reset. Simple. Routine. Steady. And something I deeply treasure.
Lately, I’ve been reading through the New Testament and I’m in 2 Timothy. Paul begins chapter three describing what the last days will look like — the character of people: selfish, lovers of money, proud, unthankful, deceitful (just to name a few). As I looked up the meaning of each word, I felt convicted. Not just by what I see in the world, but by what I sometimes see in my own heart.
But just a few verses later, Paul writes something that stopped me:
“Evil men shall wax worse and worse… but CONTINUE THOU in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of.”
In other words — while the world grows darker, you continue.
You stay steady.
You remain faithful.
You hold tightly to what you know is true.
It’s easy to become distracted by the wrong around us. It’s easy to focus on how we’ve been misunderstood or wronged. But this passage reminds me that my responsibility is not to fix everything around me — it’s to stay faithful in what God has called me to today.
Sometimes that looks ordinary.
It looks like washing the dishes again.
Changing another diaper.
Opening your Bible when you’re tired.
Looking your husband in the eyes, holding his hand and telling him you’re proud of him.
It looks like doing the next right thing.
One choice at a time. One day at a time.
I’m sharing these late-night thoughts in case someone else needs the same reminder I did tonight: the world may feel heavy, but we can still live faithfully. We can continue.
Blessings and love,
Erin

Most people would think snail teeth are soft, weak, or primitive. But they're the opposite! They are the strongest known biological material on Earth. Pound for pound, they outperform spider silk, bone, and even many engineered metals. The teeth are part of a ribbon-like tongue called a radula, lined with thousands of microscopic blades designed to scrape rock without wearing out.

Each tooth is reinforced with iron-based goethite nanofibers, arranged with stunning precision. The internal structure distributes stress so efficiently that laboratory tests show these teeth can withstand pressures high enough to turn carbon into diamond. Not crack. Not deform. Endure. At a scale invisible to the naked eye, these teeth are engineered like high-performance industrial tools.

This is not luck. This is not blind chemistry stumbling into perfection. This is intentional design written at the nanoscale. A creature most people overlook carries materials science that human engineers are still trying to imitate. God did not just create beauty. He built brilliance into even the smallest mouth on Earth. If he cares for the unwanted garden snail, think how much He loves and cares for you!
