The brain child of Kathryn "Brock" Brockman and Michelle Boeckers; recruiting began for buliders, scarers, and volunteers. With a core group of 10-15 people, a haunted house was born. The first two years the house was in an old, unoccupied Catholic church which has now been remodeled and turned into the Trinity Center. In 2014, the Henning Haunted House was fortunate enough to move into Henning's
first Community Center, a 100+ year old building complete with original brick, bell tower, and the perfect upper level for all things spooky. Each year a portion of the proceeds are donated to various local organizations and groups. Organizations like Henning HOPE, Henning Volunteer Fire Department, Henning Food Shelf and more receive a portion of the proceeds and donations to help pay for their respected expenses. In 2021 the Henning Haunted House donated $4,000 to help birth a much needed shelter in Henning City Park. Admission has stayed at a reasonable $5 since 2012, to ensure return customers and a trusty following each year. As always, donations and non-perishable food donations are always welcome. This group of volunteers now consists of 30+ volunteers continuing to come up with new and exciting ways to scare each year. Henning Haunted House volunteers consists of Firemen, Policemen, Teachers, Farmers, Office Workers, Cooks, Servers, Beauticians, Clerks, and more who spend their limited spare time and money to keep the tradition of tormenting the community alive. In 2021, the Henning Lions Club graciously offered to serve the community hot food on scare nights just across the street at the Fire Hall & Community Center from 6-10pm. This makes the perfect dinner and a show combo! Or if you're not looking to be scared, enjoy the delicious food and enjoy the torment of all the others. Proceeds from the Henning Lions food are in support of the Club and will be given back to the community through various projects. As always, scare nights are the last two Fridays & Saturdays in October from 7-10pm. We hope you come out to support this endeavor and we wish you a safe and happy Halloween season!
